According to Buster Olney of ESPN.com, nine teams called Nate Schierholtz's representatives within 12 hours after he was non-tendered by the Phillies. Olney lists the Yankees as one of the clubs that have interest and speculates that the Rays could be players, as well. Schierholtz possesses a so-so career .270/.319/.409 batting line but offers good defense on the outfield corners. Any team that signs him would likely be counting on him in a complementary role.

The Phillies will not tender a contract to OF Nate Schierholtz. Schierholtz made $1.3 million this season while batting .257/.321/.407 with six homers and a .728 OPS in 269 plate appearances. The Phillies weren't willing to give him a raise in arbitration, but he shouldn't have trouble latching on somewhere as a part-time outfielder.

Phillies activated OF Nate Schierholtz from the 15-day disabled list. Schierholtz, out since August 12 with a fractured big right toe, went 2-for-17 (.118) over four games with Triple-A Lehigh Valley during his rehab assignment. Assuming he's healthy, he should get semi-regular playing time down the stretch.

Nate Schierholtz (toe) took batting practice Wednesday for the first time since being placed on the disabled list. It's a good first step, but Schierholtz has only missed just over a week of the 3-4 week timetable the Phillies gave him when he fractured his big right toe. Obviously running will be a bigger test for the outfielder.

Nate Schierholtz (toe) is expected to miss at least three to four weeks. Schierholtz was placed on the disabled list Monday after fracturing his big right toe during his only at-bat in Sunday's game. It's a tough break for the 28-year-old, who will miss time he otherwise would have spent auditioning for a spot on the 2013 squad. Phillies manager Charlie Manuel has hinted that Laynce Nix could be worked into the mix in center field during his absence. Domonic Brown is expected to stay in right field.

Phillies acquired OF Nate Schierholtz, C Tommy Joseph and RHP Seth Rosin from the Giants for OF Hunter Pence and cash considerations. Schierholtz is getting the change of scenery he asked for. The 28-year-old has only logged 197 plate appearances this season, but he should see semi-regular playing time in the Phillies' outfield the rest of the way. He has some pop and a strong arm, so he could turn into a useful piece of the Fightins. Schierholtz is making $1.3 million this season and remains under team control through 2014.

Nate Schierholtz told According to Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com that he has not formally requested a trade. This refutes a report by Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. Schierholtz told the San Francisco Chronicle earlier this month that he would be open to a change of scenery that would give him the opportunity to play every day. While he has denied making a formal request, he didn't say whether his feelings have changed on the situation.

Nate Schierholtz hit a pair of solo home runs in Sunday's 12-inning loss to the Phillies. Schierholtz took Joe Blanton deep in the first before tagging him again in the eighth. The bombs were just his fourth and fifth of the season. With only seven starts in the month of July, Schierholtz is a poor option in NL-only leagues.

Nate Schierholtz went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer and a triple Monday as the Giants beat the Mets 6-1 in the first game of a doubleheader. Needing a double for the cycle, Schierholtz grounded out in the ninth. With three homers, Schierholtz is already a third of the way to his 2011 total. He's off to a terrific start for someone who lost his job in spring training.
