Nate Schierholtz went 0-for-3 with a walk against the Cardinals on Friday. The Northsiders are suffering through a typically awful year, but Schierholtz is enjoying the best season of his career. Entering 2013, Schierholtz had never posted a WAR of 1.0 over a six-year career. Schierholtz has accrued a 1.6 WAR for the Cubs in half a season. He's batting .269/.327/.498 and is on pace for 20 homers. Schierholtz is likely to be traded this month, which would likely increase his fantasy value.

Nate Schierholtz went 2-for-4 with his 11th home run in a loss to the Brewers on Tuesday. The outfielder remains one of the only bright spots for the Cubs, as he also hit his 19th double in the game and has driven in 32 runs on the year. He doesn't have a ton of value now, but if he's traded to a contender next month he could be an asset down the fantasy stretch.

Nate Schierholtz hit his 10th home run of the season Saturday in the Cubs' loss to the Astros. It has been another dismal year for the Northsiders, but Schierholtz is looking like a pretty nice catch. He has a .289/.341/.557 batting line in 62 games played and may be worth a roster spot in standard mixed fantasy leagues.

Nate Schierholtz went 2-for-4 with a two-run double Wednesday in a losing cause against the Cardinals. We were pretty skeptical about the Cubs' plan to use Schierholtz as a No. 5 hitter, but he's been terrific there so far, hitting .299 with four homers, 12 doubles and 17 RBI in 97 at-bats. He'll fade some offensively, but perhaps not as much as we thought. Getting out of San Francisco and into a decent ballpark for hitters seems to have done him a lot of good.

Nate Schierholtz went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a stolen base Thursday in a loss to the Giants. All three hits were singles. Schierholtz is now hitting .370 (10-for-27) with one home run, three doubles, four RBI and two stolen bases on the young season. He's on the strong side of a platoon with Scott Hairston in right field, so he should be owned in all NL-only formats and could even come in handy in deeper mixed leagues which allow daily lineup changes.

Cubs signed OF Nate Schierholtz to a one-year, $2.25 million contract. The deal was announced over two weeks ago and has finally become official. He can also earn $500,000 more in incentives. Schierholtz has posted an uninspiring .270/.319/.409 batting line over six seasons but is expected to start in right field, with David DeJesus handling center until Brett Jackson is deemed ready.

Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports that the Cubs have signed Nate Schierholtz to a one-year contract. And the Yankees miss out on another one of their targets. Schierholtz can play some defense at the corner outfield spots but has posted an uninspiring .270/.319/.409 batting line over six seasons. He could wind up starting in right field if Brett Jackson begins the season at Triple-A.

The New York Post's Joel Sherman reports that the Yankees have made Nate Schierholtz an offer. He notes that it's the first formal offer they've made to a position player this offseason. It's not clear how much the offer is for, but Sherman believes the Yankees might try to sign both Schierholtz and Scott Hairston and platoon them in right field.

According to David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Braves have interest in Nate Schierholtz. The Braves are looking for a left fielder, but they likely aren't viewing Schierholtz as a starting option. The 28-year-old outfielder is a .270/.319/.409 career hitter but offers plus defense in left and right field. The Yankees are thought to be the current front-runners for his services.
