Nate Schierholtz went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a walk against the Phillies on Tuesday. Schierholtz found himself on the bench at the beginning of the season after a poor spring, but it's going to be hard to sit him now with the start he's off to (.360, 2 HR, 6 RBI in 25 AB). That's bad news for Brandon Belt fans.

Nate Schierholtz launched a pair of solo home runs in Wednesday's blowout loss to the Rockies. Schierholtz tagged Jeremy Guthrie in the fourth before taking Tyler Chatwood deep in the seventh. The bombs were his first of the season, while it was just the second multi-homer game of his career. Tonight was Schierholtz's first start of the year, though many more could be on the way if manager Bruce Bochy continues to be impatient with Brandon Belt.

Nate Schierholtz is out of the lineup again Wednesday due to a right forearm strain. Schierholtz suffered the injury about a week ago and hopes that a couple of days off will do him some good. The 27-year-old is hitting .258 (8-for-31) with a pair of doubles and four RBI and currently projects as the Giants' starting right fielder.

The Giants and OF Nate Schierholtz avoided arbitration by agreeing on a one-year, $1.3 million contract. He could earn an additional $150,000 with performance-based incentives. Schierholtz, who turns 27 next month, is arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter. He batted .278/.326/.430 with nine homers, 41 RBI, seven stolen bases and a .756 OPS over 362 plate appearances in 2011.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Thursday that he considers Nate Schierholtz his starting right fielder for 2012. The Giants are still interested in bringing Carlos Beltran back, but Schierholtz would be the most likely option if he signs elsewhere. Schierholtz, 26, batted .278/.326/.430 with nine homers, 41 RBI, seven stolen bases and a .756 OPS over 362 plate appearances this season. He was shut down earlier this month with a broken right foot, but is expected to be ready for spring training. Keep him in mind in NL-only leagues.

Nate Schierholtz (foot) will take batting practice Saturday. Schierholtz has been out since August 21. Although the Giants still have a slim chance at the National League wild card, beat writer Andrew Baggarly does not expect Schierholtz to return before Wednesday's season finale.

Nate Schierholtz (foot) hopes to remove his protective boot and take batting practice before the season is over. Schierholtz hasn't played since August 21 due to a hairline fracture in his right foot. Giants manager Bruce Bochy hasn't ruled out the possibility that he could return during the final home series of the season, but that all depends on how much progress he makes in the coming days.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Nate Schierholtz (foot) should at least be available to pinch-hit when he's eligible to come off the disabled list on Tuesday. It could be a little longer than that when he's cleared to play defense. Schierholtz has been out since late August with a hairline fracture in his foot.
