Giants placed OF Nate Schierholtz on the 15-day disabled list with a hairline fracture in his foot. Schierholtz suffered the injury earlier this week. He tried to play through it, but not with much success. The 27-year-old outfielder should be ready around mid-September.

Nate Schierholtz (foot) is likely to be placed on the disabled list Saturday. Not surprising, as the Giants need to clear a spot on the roster for Eric Surkamp, and Schierholtz was likely headed to the DL on Sunday when Andres Torres came back, anyway. He'll be back at some point after the rosters expand.

Nate Schierholtz (foot) could be placed on the 15-day disabled list this weekend. Schierholtz has been trying to play through a hairline fracture in his right foot, but it hasn't gone too well. The Giants will need to clear a spot on their 25-man roster and in their outfield when Andres Torres (leg contusion) is activated on Sunday. Giving Schierholtz an extended amount of rest would make sense.

Nate Schierholtz (foot) will throw and hit off a tee before Wednesday's game. Schierholtz will attempt to play through a hairline fracture in his right foot, but he'll sit out the next few days. He's wearing a boot on the foot in an effort to alleviate pressure but will just take it off when he goes through workouts.

Nate Schierholtz said following Tuesday's game that he will attempt to play through a fracture in his right foot. The fracture was diagnosed Monday following an MRI and confirmed in a CT scan. Schierholtz initially suffered the injury when he fouled a ball off his foot last Monday. He plans to rest for a couple of days before rejoining the lineup, saying that the fracture is in a "good spot" and that he risks no further injury by playing.

Nate Schierholtz is unavailable due to ongoing soreness in his right foot. We figured that might be the case. Schierholtz missed time earlier this week after fouling a ball off the foot, and it's still giving him problems. He's wearing a boot on the foot, and although at this point he's expected to avoid the DL, he'll likely miss a few more days.

X-rays on Nate Schierholtz's right foot have come back negative. He's considered day-to-day, but with the Giants being consumed by injuries right now, it's still possible Schierholtz will wind up on the DL. Stay tuned.

Nate Schierholtz is being sent for X-rays on his right foot. Just when you think the injury bug couldn't get any worse for the Giants, here's this. The fear is that Schierholtz may have broke his right foot on a foul ball during the eighth inning of Monday's game. While the Giants are busy crossing their fingers, Aubrey Huff will play left field and Brandon Belt will play right on Tuesday night.

Nate Schierholtz (hip) remains out of the Giants lineup on Friday. Schierholtz's absence keeps Aaron Rowand in the lineup. Considered day-to-day, Schierholtz should be back on the field by Sunday at the latest.
