Nate Schierholtz is out of Wednesday's lineup against the Pirates with a hip flexor injury. That explains why Cody Ross and Aaron Rowand are in the lineup with right-hander Jeff Karstens on the hill for Pittsburgh. It's possible that Schierholtz could be available off the bench, but consider him day-to-day right now.

Nate Schierholtz went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBI against the Brewers on Saturday. Schierholtz will probably lose a lot of playing time if Carlos Beltran ends up in San Francisco, but he won't deserve to. He's hit .360 with three homers and 13 RBI this month, and he has his average up to .292 for the year.

Schierholtz also doubled in the 12th. His first career multi-homer game brings his season total to six, while he's also sporting an impressive .278/.330/.440 triple slash through his first 227 plate appearances. Nate Schierholtz went 3-for-4 with a stolen base, a run scored and two RBI in Tuesday's win over the Cubs. His offensive production isn't anything special, but Schierholtz is considered the team's best defensive outfielder and one of its better clutch hitters. The 27-year-old is worth rostering in deeper NL-only leagues. He's hitting .267/.316/.415 thus far.

Nate Schierholtz has started 13 of the Giants' 17 games in June. His production at the plate -- .260/.299/.409 with four homers and four steals -- isn't anything special, but Schierholtz is considered the team's best defensive outfielder and has provided numerous big late-inning hits. The 27-year-old is worth rostering in deeper NL-only leagues.
