Cain (2-6) beat the Reds on Tuesday despite allowing four runs on six hits and a walk while striking out just four in 5.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Cain didn't pitch particularly well, but helped his case with a second-inning three-run homer against winless rookie Cody Reed. While he managed to take advantage of a lucky matchup this time around, it's still tough to trust the veteran considering this was his longest outing since May 21. Tread very carefully when he faces a dangerous Nationals lineup Sunday.

Cain (1-5) gave up five runs over just 2.1 innings in Wednesday's loss to Boston.
EDGE Analysis
The Red Sox tagged Cain for three homers in that short span, two of them by Hanley Ramirez, spoiling the veteran's return from a hamstring strain. Once one of the game's most successful pitchers, Cain has followed up last year's career-worst campaign with an even worse one this season, as he's giving up loads of baserunners and plenty of long balls. At this point, he can't be rolled out in any fantasy format until he shows owners some reason to trust him.

Cain (hamstring) has been activated from the disabled list and will start for the Giants Wednesday against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Cain struggled in his last rehab appearance, giving up nine runs on 10 hits in only four innings. He is slated to start on Wednesday against a tough Red Sox offense on the road. It might be best to take a wait-and-see approach with Cain before putting him back in fantasy lineups.

Cain (hamstring) has been cleared to start Wednesday against the Red Sox, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cain's first rehab start didn't go particularly well (nine earned runs), but he threw a successful bullpen session Sunday and has been medically cleared for a Wednesday start. Considering the matchup against a tough Boston lineup, and his performance the last time he was on the mound, Cain is a risky fantasy play Wednesday, at best.

Cain (hamstring) will throw a bullpen Sunday and the Giants will decide afterward whether he will face the Red Sox on Wednesday, Chris Haft of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
He was blown up for nine earned runs on 10 hits and three walks in four innings in a rehab start Friday, and that was against High-A competition. It seems the Giants need some convincing before returning Cain to the major league rotation. If they are not pleased with how the 31-year-old looks Sunday, they could send Cain for one additional minor league start.

Cain (hamstring) will pitch in two more rehab starts, including Friday's start for Triple-A Sacramento, freelance writer Andrew Baggarly reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cain was placed on the DL on June 14 after previously spending two weeks on the disabled list for his hamstring. He will make his first rehab start Friday and will likely get another one in sometime next week before rejoining the Giants shortly after the All-Star Break ends. During his time on the mound this season, Cain has posted a 5.34 ERA with a 1.52 WHIP during 57.1 innings of work, sporting a 1-5 record.

Cain (hamstring) is on track to return to the Giants' rotation after the All-Star break, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander is making a start in the (rookie-level) Arizona League on Friday, on the heels of a successful live bullpen session Tuesday. Cain will reportedly make another start in the minors next week in preparation for a post-break return to the big league team. The long ball has haunted Cain this season, as it did a year ago (1.78 HR/9 in 2015), and expectations should be generally low for him in the second half.

Cain (hamstring) could begin a rehab assignment as soon as Friday, CSN Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cain threw a successful 36-pitch bullpen session Sunday morning, and is scheduled to face live hitters Tuesday. If all goes well there, Cain will embark upon a rehab assignment, though the number of rehab starts has yet to be determined. Barring any setbacks, the right-hander could be ready to return in the first or second week of July.

Cain (hamstring) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Sunday, Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cain, who's been sidelined since June 14 with a right hamstring strain, threw a bullpen session this past week and is now set to complete another one. Pending any setbacks, the 31-year-old could begin a rehab assignment next week and then return to the Giants' rotation before July.

Cain was placed on the 15-day DL Tuesday with a right hamstring strain, CSN Bay Area's Amy Gutierrez reports.
EDGE Analysis
He just returned from a hamstring injury on Monday, and lasted just 3.2 innings against the Brewers after giving up three runs and walking five. Albert Suarez will likely rejoin the rotation, although the Giants have not confirmed anything on that front.
