Cain allowed three runs on five hits and five walks with three strikeouts over 3.2 innings Monday in a no-decision against the Brewers
EDGE Analysis
Cain's struggles continued in his first start back from a hamstring injury that kept him on the disabled list for the past two weeks. Cain had three quality starts in a row before the outing in which he was injured and looked like he was getting his season back on track. He has now failed to reach the fifth inning five times in 11 starts this season and has a 5.34 ERA as the Cy Young contender Cain used to be remains a long way in the rear view mirror.

Cain (hamstring) was activated from the DL on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Cain will return to the Giants' rotation as the fifth starter and look to improve upon his poor start to the season. The 31-year-old currently sits at 1-5 with a 5.20 ERA and 1.43 WHIP through 10 starts.

Cain (hamstring) will start Monday against the Brewers, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
Evidently, Cain showed enough during his 72-pitch simulated game Wednesday to convince the team a minor league rehab assignment will not be necessary. Albert Suarez will return to the bullpen. Cain was on an impressive run before hitting the DL, allowing a total of four runs over 21 innings in three starts before his abbreviated outing on May 27.

Cain (hamstring) tossed 72 pitches during a simulated game Wednesday, Andrew Baggarly of the Bay Area News Group reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Bruce Bochy said Cain may need a Triple-A start depending on how he felt after Wednesday's simulated game. If Cain felt good, there is a decent probability that he could start as early as next week, possibly Monday against the Brewers. The 31-year-old completed a bullpen session prior to Sunday's game and has progressed smoothly ever since he was placed on the disabled list on May 28.

Cain (hamstring) is scheduled to throw a simulated game Wednesday, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cain took a step in the right direction when he completed a bullpen session prior to Sunday's game, and it appears the results were favorable there. As long as he emerges from the simulated game unscathed, Cain should be back in the San Francisco rotation shortly afterwards.

Cain (hamstring) threw a bullpen session prior to Sunday's game, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cain is not expected to miss much more than the 15-day minimum, and the fact that he's throwing regular bullpen sessions certainly reinforces that notion. He could be back in the San Francisco rotation as early as next week.

Cain (hamstring) is progressing in his rehab from a strained hamstring, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cain hit the DL a week ago but is not expected to miss much, if any, time beyond the requisite 15 days. The veteran indicated Saturday that he's eyeing a return on June 13 when the Giants open a three-game set at home against the Brewers.

Cain (hamstring) was placed on the DL on Saturday, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cain was forced out of his last start Friday in the second inning after experiencing pain in his right hamstring. It's since been diagnosed as a strain, and Cain will miss at least the minimum 15 days. Chris Stratton has been recalled from Triple-A Sacramento, and he'll presumably fill Cain's spot in the rotation, temporarily.

Cain will undergo an MRI on his injured right hamstring, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Giants will send Cain for an MRI to gauge the extent of the right hamstring strain that forced him from Friday's game after 26 pitches. Manager Bruce Bochy suggested Cain could be headed to the DL, likening his current injury to the one he suffered in 2014 when he missed two starts. Albert Suarez, who replaced Cain on Friday, could take Cain's spot in the rotation for a couple turns.

Cain left Friday's game in the second inning with a right hamstring strain.
EDGE Analysis
He was forced off the mound after 26 pitches and replaced by Albert Suarez. The severity of the strain remains uncertain, but at the very least, Cain's next start figures to be in jeopardy. Chris Heston, who started Thursday for Triple-A Sacramento, would be a logical option to replace Cain in the rotation if this injury were to force him to the DL.
