De La Rosa (oblique) was released by the Rockies on Friday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
De La Rosa agreed to a minor-league contract with the Rockies in April, but he failed to make a minor-league appearance prior to his release due to an oblique injury. The 38-year-old has been playing professional ball since the 2004 season and may consider hanging it up if he fails to draw interest while on the open market.

De La Rosa has yet to debut in affiliated ball in 2019 while recovering from an oblique injury, Nick Groke of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Since he didn't put pen to paper on a minor-league deal with the Rockies until early April, De La Rosa missed all of spring training and was never assigned to an affiliate when the season began. He reported to extended spring training shortly after signing but soon developed the oblique problem, delaying his debut even further. As of last week, De La Rosa had resumed throwing bullpen sessions, so it shouldn't be long before he reports to a lower-level affiliate for a rehab assignment. Once deemed fully healthy, De La Rosa will likely be ticketed for a spot in the Triple-A Albuquerque bullpen.

De La Rosa agreed to a minor-league contract with the Rockies on Friday, Nick Groke of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
De La Rosa made 59 appearances during stops with the Cubs and Diamondbacks a season ago and posted a 3.38 ERA with 47 punchouts over 56 innings. He'll provide the Rockies with bullpen depth and should join Triple-A Albuquerque within the next few days.

De La Rosa gave up a hit and a walk in a scoreless ninth inning Friday to record his first save of the season in a 3-2 win over the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
It was actually the first save of the veteran left-hander's career, coming in his 426th career appearance. Even with Pedro Strop (hamstring) sidelined and Brandon Morrow (biceps) not yet ready to return to the bullpen, De La Rosa isn't likely to remain in the closing mix for the Cubs given his 3.63 ERA and 1.40 WHIP across 52 innings in 2018, but manager Joe Maddon has made stranger decisions.

De La Rosa recorded two outs in Friday's 1-0 win over the Pirates to notch his seventh hold of the season and first in a Cubs uniform.
EDGE Analysis
Cubs manager Joe Maddon used Brandon Kintzler to start the eighth inning, and after he allowed a one-out single, Maddon turned to De La Rosa to get left-handed pinch hitter Adam Frazier. De La Rosa was able to induce a double play to quickly get out of the inning. The 37-year-old lefty looks like he could be used primarily against same-handed hitters the rest of the way as a specialist out of the Chicago bullpen.

De La Rosa allowed an earned run over two innings of relief in Tuesday's loss to the Brewers. He gave up four hits and struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
De La Rosa has now pitched in two games for the Cubs, and he has seven strikeouts over 3.1 innings. The veteran lefty still has a mediocre 4.46 ERA this season, but if he can continue to miss bats at a decent rate, De La Rosa could carve out a niche in the Chicago bullpen as a second southpaw behind Justin Wilson, at least until Brian Duensing (shoulder) returns from the DL.

De La Rosa signed a contract with the Cubs on Friday, Bruce Miles of the Daily Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
De La Rosa was released by the Diamondbacks last weekend after posting a 4.63 ERA and 1.60 WHIP across 35 innings with the club this season. He will immediately be available out of Chicago's bullpen for Friday's series opener versus the Nationals. In a corresponding move, the team shifted Yu Darvish (shoulder) over to the 60-day DL and optioned Randy Rosario to the minors.

The Diamondbacks released De La Rosa on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
After he went unclaimed off waivers over the weekend, De La Rosa likely had little interest in reporting to Triple-A Reno, so the Diamondbacks opted to cut him loose. The 37-year-old will now look to secure a contract from another organization that might have a need for an experienced left-handed reliever.

De La Rosa was designated for assignment by the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
De La Rosa was removed from the roster in order to make room for newly-acquired lefty reliever Jake Diekman. The 37-year-old struggled to a 4.63 ERA in 35 innings for Arizona, walking too many batters (12.0 percent) while striking out too few (17.1 percent).

De La Rosa was charged with seven runs on five hits and three walks over 1.2 innings of relief Wednesday in the Diamondbacks' 19-2 loss to the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
De La Rosa often thrived while pitching at high altitude during his nine seasons in Colorado, but that experience didn't prove beneficial Wednesday. After turning in scoreless appearances in nine of his previous 11 outings to lower his season ERA to 3.00, De La Rosa saw that mark jump all the way back to 4.83 by the time he exited his appearance. He needed a season-high 65 pitches just to record five outs, with that heavy workload likely to make him unavailable out of the bullpen for at least the Diamondbacks' next two games.
