De La Rosa (groin) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
It was announced earlier Wednesday that the veteran lefty would likely require a stint on the DL due to a groin strain, and the club has since confirmed the move. In a corresponding move Wednesday, the Rockies recalled right-handed starter Eddie Butler from Triple-A Albuquerque. There is no timetable for De La Rosa's return at this time.

De La Rosa will likely head to the disabled list, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
De La Rosa appeared to injure his groin while running up the first-base line during Tuesday's game with the Pirates, and it seems to be serious enough that he'll be out long enough to warrant a DL stint. This injury adds fuel to the fire that is the left-hander's season thus far, as he's managed just a 1-3 record with a horrid 10.18 ERA. Eddie Butler is expected to be called up from Triple-A Albuquerque to fill his spot in the rotation.

De La Rosa may have tweaked his groin when running up the line Tuesday, which could have been the reason for him getting pulled after three innings in his start against the Pirates, ROOT Sports' Jenny Cavnar reports.
EDGE Analysis
He could have been pulled partially for performance reasons as well, as De La Rosa was up to 73 pitches (39 strikes) and had allowed four earned runs on five hits and three walks while striking out five in three innings. Look for his status to be updated after the completion of Tuesday's game.

De La Rosa will be the starting pitcher Tuesday against the Pirates, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
De La Rosa was originally slated to pitch Monday against the Pirates, but he had his start pushed back due to the stomach flu. There was some speculation that the left-hander wouldn't pitch until Wednesday so that Chad Bettis could stay on his normal schedule, but Bettis filled in on Monday which allowed De La Rosa to slot into Tuesday's bout with Pittsburgh. He'll be facing a Pirates lineup chock-full of right-handed batters, which isn't great news considering the .333 batting average right-handed hitters have against the 35-year-old this season.

De La Rosa is battling the stomach flu and is expected to have his start Monday against the Pirates pushed back, Nick Groke of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
De La Rosa is now set to miss out on a two-start week, but he's still expected to face this same Pirates squad Wednesday, when he'll likely be sufficiently recovered from the flu. The Rockies haven't formally announced a replacement starter for Monday, but long man Chris Rusin is the most logical candidate for those duties.

De La Rosa (1-2) allowed four runs on six hits and a walk over just two innings in a loss Tuesday against the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
De La Rosa did record five of his six outs via the strikeout thanks to seven swinging strikes in just 63 pitches. This is classic De La Rosa, whose stuff has always been enticing but has produced just a 4.60 career ERA. De La Rosa has given up at least four runs in each of his first four starts and at least five earned runs in the last three, and his ERA sits at 9.87.

De La Rosa (0-1) allowed seven runs on seven hits and five walks while striking out three over four innings, while taking the loss Saturday against the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
De La Rosa gave up three homers between the third and fourth innings to account for all seven of the runs he'd allow. He's off to a brutal start, as he hasn't made it through the fifth inning in either of his two appearances, and his ERA sits at 12.46. He'll make his next start Thursday against the Giants.

De La Rosa took a no-decision in his Opening Day start against Arizona, as he struck out eight but allowed five runs and gave up eight hits over 4.2 innings.
EDGE Analysis
De La Rosa walked two and served up a fourth inning home run to Jake Lamb. He had his good stuff rolling before he was singled to death by the Diamondbacks in the fifth inning, including a Chris Owings infield single. Ironically, De La Rosa couldn't get through five innings and earn a chance at a win in part because of all the strikeouts he racked up early in the game, as his pitch count was pushed all the way up to 94 by the time he was removed. This game is emblematic of what can be expected from De La Rosa in general: flashes of brilliance, but rarely can he put it all together with consistency.

De La Rosa was named the Opening Day starter Friday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This marks the second time in three years that the veteran lefty will take the hill on Opening Day for the Rockies. De La Rosa had one of his more prolific strikeout seasons in recent memory last season, fanning 134 batters over 149.0 innings after striking out just 139 across 184.1 innings in 2014. He has not been overly effective this spring, however, notching a 4.63 ERA over 11.2 innings pitched.

De La Rosa has allowed two earned runs, walked two batters, and struck out six over 6.2 innings this spring.
EDGE Analysis
After dealing with groin and Achilles issues last season, the left-hander is coming into camp completely healthy, and his stats show it. Before giving up a two-run home run to Matt Chapman on Thursday, De La Rosa began spring training with six straight scoreless innings. At nearly 35 years old, he seems primed to have a solid year and could break camp as the Opening Day starter as long as he continues to pitch well.
