De La Rosa signed a minor-league contract with the Diamondbacks on Friday, which includes an invite to spring training.
EDGE Analysis
De La Rosa appeared in 65 games for Arizona last season, posting a 4.21 ERA and 1.31 WHIP with a 45:21 K:BB over 51.1 innings of relief. He should settle back into a reliable role within the club's bullpen, although he will likely have to work to earn a setup role in 2018. Even if he's able to repeat his numbers from last season, he doesn't have much of an impact at the fantasy level outside of NL-only formats that count holds.

De La Rosa collected his 16th hold of the season and while tossing a scoreless seventh inning in Wednesday's 3-1 win over the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Though he hit a batter for the second straight contest, De La Rosa has shown increased reliability in the late innings over the past couple of weeks, earning five holds and giving up just one run over 4.1 frames in his last eight appearances. With an unremarkable 4.37 ERA and 1.31 WHIP for the season, however, De La Rosa doesn't offer much interest in NL-only formats outside of leagues that count holds.

De La Rosa covered 1.1 scoreless innings of relief in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Mets. He walked a batter and struck out two during the appearance.
EDGE Analysis
De La Rosa has submitted a 4.97 ERA since the All-Star break, but it hasn't been enough to remove him from the setup mix, as he's still recorded four holds during that span. Still, it seems that De La Rosa would be best optimized as a LOOGY rather than a more traditional one-inning reliever, which is how manager Torey Lovullo has chosen to deploy him for much of the campaign. De La Rosa has limited left-handed hitters to a .175/.224/.290 line for the season, while righties have hit .268/.370/.455 against him.

De La Rosa was credited with a hold in Friday's 2-1 win over the Giants after tossing a scoreless seventh inning and recording two strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
De La Rosa will presumably end up falling down a peg on the bullpen depth chart after the Diamondbacks acquired David Hernandez prior to the trade deadline, but the new pickup hasn't diminished his usage in key spots thus far. The veteran lefty has recorded holds in both of his last two appearances, boosting his total to 11 on the season. De La Rosa is tied with Andrew Chafin for second on the team in that category, trailing only relief ace Archie Bradley (13).

De La Rosa tossed a scoreless sixth inning in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Reds in 11 innings, giving up a base hit and striking out a batter.
EDGE Analysis
With starter Zack Greinke running up his pitch count to 104 through five frames, the Diamondbacks required five relievers in the extra-inning affair, with De La Rosa receiving the first call out of the bullpen. He was able to keep the score knotted at 3-3 without too much trouble, ending a streak of three consecutive appearances where he had allowed a run. De La Rosa had been an integral part of the setup crew for the Diamondbacks earlier in the season, but it seems manager Torey Lovullo has since opted to deploy the lefty primarily in middle relief. Perhaps as a result of typically working earlier in games, De La Rosa has only collected two holds since the beginning of June.

De La Rosa gave up a base hit, but recorded the final out of the eighth inning to earn his ninth hold of the season in Sunday's 4-3 triumph over the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
De La Rosa's nine holds put him in a tie with Andrew Chafin for second on the team behind relief ace Archie Bradley (12). The 36-year-old's background as a starter and status as a left-hander makes him a versatile weapon out of the bullpen for manager Torey Lovullo, but outside of NL-only leagues that count holds as a category, it will be difficult to wring much fantasy value out of De La Rosa.

De La Rosa (3-1) retired two batters and was the pitcher of record when Arizona pulled ahead for good during Saturday's win over Philadelphia.
EDGE Analysis
It's been an up-and-down conversion to the bullpen for the former starter this season, as De La Rosa sports a 4.24 ERA and 1.46 WHIP through 27 appearances (23.1 innings). There's no fear in fading the veteran lefty at this stage of game.

De La Rosa yielded a run on three hits during Wednesday's 7-4 win over the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
About a month through the season, De La Rosa looked as though he had taken well to the transition from starting to working out of the bullpen, but fatigue seems to be setting in for the aging left-hander, who has already made 25 appearances. He's given up runs in three straight outings and six of his last eight, while seeing his ERA climb from 2.35 to 4.43 during that stretch. It still looks as though manager Torey Lovullo trusts him to lock down the seventh or eighth inning, but if De La Rosa fails to correct things soon, it wouldn't be surprising to see him settle into lower-leverage middle-relief duties.

De La Rosa struck out two batters in his lone inning of relief, but gave up a solo home run and walked a batter in Friday's 4-2 win over the Brewers in extra innings.
EDGE Analysis
With the Diamondbacks' clinging to a 1-0 lead entering the seventh inning, De La Rosa served up the equalizer to Jett Bandy and was charged with a blown save as a result. The veteran lefty, who has regularly worked as a starter in previous seasons, has been one of manager Torey Lovullo's most trusted options out of the bullpen in 2017, but he's stumbled of late, conceding at least one run in three consecutive appearances. With De La Rosa already having racked up 20 appearances less than a third of the way through the season, Lovullo may look to scale back the 36-year-old's workload in the short term.

De La Rosa (2-0) pitched a scoreless eighth inning and recorded a strikeout to earn his second win of the season during Monday's victory over the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran lefty has made a successful transition to the bullpen and sports a 2.51 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 9.4 K/9 over 14.1 innings. There is a chance he pitches his way into more high-leverage situations going forward and increases his fantasy value. However, for the time being, it's probably best to take a wait-and-see approach with De La Rosa.
