Brodeur blew a 3-0 first-period lead and ended up surrendering six goals on 37 shots Thursday against the Kings. Staked to that three-goal lead with four minutes left before the first intermission, Brodeur proceeded to give up the next three goals before seeing the Blues hop back in front, 4-3. And then he gave up another trio of unanswered goals in the third period. It's been a mixed bag for Brodeur since he signed up with St. Louis -- in four starts, he's given up four, one, two and six goals. But Jake Allen has been mediocre, so the two of them seem set to continue to battle for work while Brian Elliott (knee) remains sidelined.

Brodeur will make his fourth start of the year Thursday. Brodeur has been adequate backing up Jake Allen since signing with the Blues - he has a 2.64 goals against and 90.4% save percentage in three starts.

Brodeur turned aside 32 of 34 shots in Monday's 4-2 home win over the Panthers. Brodeur's home debut for St. Louis was quite impressive, as he weathered a continuous flurry of shots from an aggressive Panthers squad, including 18 in the second period. His impressive play doesn't bode well for youngster Jake Allen, who was expected to receive the bulk of the starts while fellow netminder Bria Elliott (knee) remains out. The Blues play again Thursday, so it'll definitely be interesting to see who coach Ken Hitchcock rolls out there -- especially since the Blues are playing the Islanders again, a team Allen coughed up a three-goal lead to last Saturday.

Brodeur will start against the Panthers on Monday, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Brodeur will play in his third-straight game Monday in lieu of usual starter Jake Allen. The 42-year-old veteran has given up five goals already during his short time on the ice, so it's not a given that Allen won't regain his spot in the net at some point in the future.

Depending on your league format, we probably wouldn't go jumping on the Brodeur bandwagon just yet, but if you're desperate for help between the pipes or have an extra spot for him, the all-time winningest goalie in NHL history should definitely be on your radar. Furthermore, although it's not yet confirmed, look for Brodeur to get the nod for Monday's game against the Panthers.

Making his first-ever NHL start for a team besides the Devils, Brodeur was defeated by Pekka Rinne, a leading candidate among active goalies for the title of the game's best. The 42-year-old will split duties with Jake Allen in goal while Brian Elliott (knee) remains out.

Brodeur will make his Blues debut Thursday against the Predators, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports. For the first time in his NHL career, the 42-year-old Brodeur will not be donning his usual Devils sweater. Coach Ken Hitchcock decided to turn to the newly-signed backup after No. 1 goalie Jake Allen was torched for four goals on 33 shots in Wednesday's loss to the Blackhawks, but even with a strong performance Thursday, Brodeur doesn't figure to significantly cut into Allen's workload. Instead, most of Brodeur's duties figure to be limited to back-to-back scenarios such as these until Brian Elliott returns from injury.

Brodeur agreed to a one-year, $700,000 contract with the Blues on Tuesday, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Brodeur will officially join the Blues after a week-long tryout. He is 42 years old and is not being brought in to become the Blues' primary goaltender, and thus will serve as the backup goaltender behind Jake Allen until fellow netminder Bryan Elliott (knee) is ready to return to action.

In the wake of Brian Elliott's knee injury, Brodeur is expected to practice with the Blues for a week. If that goes well, he will sign a contract with the team, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports. Elliott may only be out a few weeks, but the Blues have one of the best fantasy goaltending situations in the league so even if you can just eek out a start or two from Brodeur in head-to-head league, he may be worth a stash if you have a deep bench.
