Martin Brodeur played a strong game Saturday, but ended up on the losing end of a 2-0 score against the Rangers. Brodeur stopped 25 of 26 Rangers shots, but despite his best efforts, his record falls to 17-14-4 with the defeat. His GAA is now 2.51 while his save percentage is .902. Based on how coach Peter DeBoer has utilized his goaltenders this season, we expect Cory Schneider to be between the pipes for New Jersey's next contest.

Martin Brodeur and Jaromir Jagr think the Devils need to essentially run the table in order to make the playoffs. The New Jersey Devils have 73 points in 70 games, which means that they can earn a maximum of 97 points. Right now it looks like it will take about 91 points to make the playoffs in the Eastern Conference, so they can probably afford to lose a couple more games, but not much more than that. In other words, the Devils' chances of making the playoffs are slim.

Martin Brodeur will start for the Devils on Saturday. Brodeur surrendered a total of seven goals in his last two starts and he lost both of those contests. He now has a 17-13-4 record, 2.55 GAA, and .900 save percentage in 34 games this season.

The New Jersey Devils seemed particularly discouraged following their 4-2 loss to Boston on Tuesday. "It's one thing to lose," Martin Brodeur said. "In the middle of the season, we were losing, but we were playing well. This, we're beating ourselves now. Teams are not beating us and that's what's the most disappointing thing about what's going on, this losing streak. Our effort is just not at the right point for the urgency that we need to make that push toward the playoffs." This defeat was a big blow to their playoff chances. The Devils are five points shy of the second Wild Card spot with just 13 games left to play.

Martin Brodeur was a victim of the red hot Bruins in Tuesday's 4-2 loss. There's no denying the fact Brodeur is a below-average goaltender at this stage of his career, as evidenced by the fact he allowed four goals on 31 shots in the defeat. His record falls to 17-13-4 as a result, but that mark disguises the troubles he has experienced. These become evident once you realize he holds a 2.55 GAA and a save percentage of .900.

Martin Brodeur will be between the pipes for New Jersey on Tuesday night against Boston. Brodeur had his four-game winning streak this month snapped on Saturday, but the Devils will stick with their veteran netminder because Cory Schneider hasn't looked very good of late.

The coach with more Stanley Cups than anyone thinks Martin Brodeur, at 41, is still a valuable goaltender. "He still reads the play well," said Scott Bowman, the Chicago Blackhawks' senior advisor for hockey operations these days. "Not many goalies are as smart as Marty. He's competitive and he's a step ahead. That's what I think."

Martin Brodeur made 29 saves in New Jersey's 3-0 loss to the Lightning on Saturday night. The future Hall of Famer gave up two in the second and one later in the third. The loss snaps a four-game winning streak for Broduer, who seems to have regained more of a share of the time between the pipes with Cory Schneider struggling. Brodeuer has a 2.51 goals-against average and .901 save percentage.

Martin Brodeur will start Saturday night for the Devils against the Lightning. It stands to reason that he could be getting more time with Cory Schneider struggling and the Devils vying for a playoff spot. Brodeur is 4-0-0 in his last four starts, giving up nine goals over that span. Schneider gave up four goals on 21 shots in the loss to the Panthers on Friday night and has given up 15 on 76 shots in his last three starts. "Whatever I'm doing right now just isn't working," said Schneider, who has a 2.12 goals-against average and .915 save percentage.

Martin Brodeur owns the Philadelphia Flyers. Okay, he's not the team's owner, literally, but, on the ice, the goalie dominates the Flyers, even this season, at 41. On Tuesday of this week, Brodeur's 2-1 win over the Flyers meant that the ageless goalie has allowed only five goals to them in four games this season. Brodeur made 30 saves on Tuesday to record his 50th career win over the Flyers and it was his 29th career game that he has held the Flyers to one goal or fewer. He is 27-1-1 in those games. And there's a possiblity Brodeur and the Devils could meet the Flyers in the first round of the NHL playoffs.
