Gallardo signed a one-year major-league deal with the Reds on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
He was unable to make the Brewers' Opening Day roster, but the Reds were willing to give the veteran righty a guaranteed deal. Gallardo will presumably enter Cincinnati's rotation in the coming days, but he will be there for quantity, not quality. His ERA has been well above 5.00 in over 100 innings in each of the last two seasons.

Gallardo was released by the Brewers on Monday, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gallardo will hit the open market after failing to secure a spot in the Brewers' Opening Day bullpen. The veteran right-hander struggled to a 5.72 ERA and 1.52 WHIP across 28 appearances in 2017, so he'll likely be forced to settle for a minor-league deal wherever he lands.

Gallardo was informed that he will be released by the Brewers after not making the Opening Day roster, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gallardo was angling to earn a spot on the team in the bullpen, but the organization decided to go another direction and cut loose the former Brewer. He will look to latch on with a new club on a minor-league deal in the near future after starting 22 games for the Mariners last season. Over 28 total appearances in 2017, he logged a 5.72 ERA and 1.52 WHIP with a 94:60 K:BB in 130.2 innings.

Gallardo will be looked at in a relief role for the remainder of spring training, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gallardo was battling for one of the Brewers' final rotation spots in camp, but a 6.75 ERA, 2.13 WHIP and 8:8 K:BB across 8.0 innings of Cactus League work prompted the Brewers to shift the 32-year-old to a relief role. He posted a 1.69 ERA over 16 relief innings for the Mariners last season. Gallardo will need to impress throughout the remainder of spring training if he wants to break camp with the Brewers.

During the Brewers' annual winter fan festival, manager Craig Counsell said Gallardo will compete for a spot in the team's Opening Day starting rotation, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
Assuming the Brewers don't add any additional pitching help via trade or free agency before the start of the season, Gallardo will get a chance to compete with the likes of Brent Suter, Brandon Woodruff, Junior Guerra and Aaron Wilkerson for one of the team's final two rotation spots. He struggled as a starter over the past two seasons ( 5.84 ERA in 55 starts), so if he's unable to lock down a rotation spot in spring, Gallardo would likely wind up in the bullpen. He posted a 1.69 ERA across 16 innings of relief with the Mariners in 2017.

Gallardo agreed to a contract with the Brewers on Saturday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gallardo will return to the team that drafted him in the second round back in 2004 after the Mariners declined to exercise his $13 million club option for 2018. It's been a rough couple of years for the veteran hurler, as he's turned in a combined 5.57 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 179:121 K:BB over the past two seasons (248.2 innings) with Baltimore and Seattle, respectively. He did turn in a respectable 1.69 ERA over 16 relief innings after being shifted to the bullpen last season, though it remains unclear what role the Brewers plan to utilize him in next year. Either way, given his declining strikeout rate, he doesn't figure to hold much, if any, fantasy value in 2018.

Gallardo will become a free agent after the Mariners declined to exercise his $13 million club option for 2018, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This isn't all too surprising, given the amount of money Gallardo was owed coupled with his unsightly 5.72 ERA and 1.52 WHIP over 22 starts (130.2 innings) last season. He may need to settle for a 'prove-it' deal given his recent drop off in performance; Gallardo has a combined 5.57 ERA and 1.55 WHIP over the past two seasons after posting a combined 3.66 ERA across his first nine big league campaigns. Still, he's expected to find work elsewhere given his previous success as a major-league starter.

Gallardo allowed two earned runs on four hits and two walks over 3.2 innings in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Astros. He also recorded a strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
Shifted back to the bullpen on Sept. 5 for scenarios such as Friday's -- when returning starter James Paxton (pectoral) only lasted 1.1 innings -- Gallardo faltered, allowing RBI singles to Josh Reddick and Cameron Maybin. The veteran right-hander had worked a scoreless inning in his bullpen return last Sunday, but he'll likely be deployed in a multi-inning capacity more often than not for what's left of the regular season.

Gallardo has been removed from the starting rotation and shifted to a bullpen role, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.
EDGE Analysis
He'll no longer make his scheduled start over the weekend; Andrew Moore will step into the rotation Wednesday, pushing Mike Leake back to start in Gallardo's place Friday. This isn't all too surprising, as the 31-year-old struggled to a 6.23 ERA across eight starts since rejoining the rotation July 23. He'll serve in a long relief role for the Mariners down the stretch.

Mariners manager Scott Servais said Sunday that Gallardo isn't certain to remain in the rotation ahead of his next schedule start against the Angels next weekend, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Since returning to the rotation July 23, Gallardo has been hit hard more often than not, as his 6.23 ERA and 1.62 WHIP over that span illustrates. His poor outing Saturday against the Athletics may have been the final straw, as Gallardo lasted just three innings and gave up two runs on five hits and two walks in a no decision. Meanwhile, Marco Gonzales, who had recently been ousted from the rotation following the acquisition of Mike Leake, fired four scoreless innings in long relief, perhaps making Servais eager to give Gonzales another look in a starting role. The Mariners are expect to reach a decision on Gallardo's status as a starter within the next couple of days.
