Gallardo, who returned to Mariners camp on March 15 from playing for Team Mexico in the World Baseball Classic, worked his longest outing of spring in his first start back, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran had endured a rocky outing in the WBC, giving up four runs over four innings, but was much steadier against the Diamondbacks on Friday. Gallardo worked 4.1 innings -- his longest stint this spring -- giving up two runs on four hits and three walks. He also recorded a pair of strikeouts and threw 70 pitches overall, 42 of which found the strike zone. The Mariners' projected fifth starter has a 6.48 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 5:5 K:BB through 8.3 innings across three spring starts.

Gallardo returned to Mariners camp Wednesday and will make his next start Friday against the Diamondbacks, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander served up three home runs in his lone start in the World Baseball Classic, ultimately logging four innings and giving up four runs. Gallardo regressed last season with the Orioles after two straight seasons of ERA's hovering around 3.50, and the early spring returns seem to point toward more struggles on the horizon. However, some of the issues last season may be able to be attributed to some shoulder problems, so a clean bill of health heading into this season could signal a turnaround for Gallardo.

Gallardo is scheduled to start Thursday for Team Mexico against Italy in the WBC, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
He will toe the rubber oppose Alessandro Maestri. Gallardo gave up four runs in an inning in his first Cactus League start, but he got back on track with three scoreless frames (and three strikeouts) in his second outing before leaving Mariners camp to join Team Mexico.

Gallardo allowed one hit and struck out three over three scoreless innings in Saturday's game against Colorado.
EDGE Analysis
Gallardo was much better during his second spring start than the first one when he allowed four runs in one inning. He'll now move on to the World Baseball Classic and start Team Mexico's first game Thursday against Italy.

Gallardo (0-1) surrendered four earned runs on three hits, two walks, a wild pitch and a hit batsman over one inning in Monday's 14-3 rain-shortened Cactus League loss to the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
Gallardo racked up 35 pitches due to his considerable command issues, limiting him to just one inning. Things started out well enough, as Gallardo set down leadoff hitter Alcides Escobar on a fly ball before hitting Paulo Orlando on a 1-2 pitch. A walk to Lorenzo Cain was followed an Eric Hosmer double that deflected off the glove of the diving Taylor Motter at second, and Salvador Perez and Brandon Moss drove in three more runs on a double and single, respectively. Despite the rough outing, the veteran right-hander reported that his arm "felt fine", and he'll have an opportunity to put the ragged effort behind him in another start Saturday before joining Team Mexico for the World Baseball Classic. "It wasn't like his misses were big, but when he left some stuff over the plate, it was up and very hittable," manager Scott Servais said. "I'm sure he's not crazy about it. It's his first time out, it happens. And we had it happen to a few guys today. But we'll stay with the plan and he'll pitch again in five days."

Gallardo, the Mariners' fifth starter, will open Monday's Cactus League matchup versus the Royals, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 30-year-old righty will begin his quest to put last season, the worst of his 10-year major league career, behind him. Gallardo battled shoulder problems and biceps tendinitis on his way to a career-worst 5.42 ERA and 1.58 WHIP in what was his sole Orioles campaign. Now reportedly at full health after an offseason of targeted strengthening exercises for his scapula, the veteran could serve as an innings-eating, better-than-average option at the back end of the 2017 rotation.

Gallardo, who battled shoulder problems last season and failed to make 30 starts for the first time since 2008, is fully healthy and excited about his new team heading into spring training, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran workhorse got matters started off on the wrong foot last season and never fully recovered. After a solid 13-11 season in Texas in 2015, Gallardo was nevertheless in limbo last offseason due to the fact that he his free-agent status came saddled with a qualifying offer, meaning the club that signed him would be surrendering a first-round pick. By the time the Orioles finally came calling, spring training was already a week old, leaving Gallardo behind the rest of the pitchers in terms of preparation. Concerns about his shoulder that arose during his physical also caused Baltimore to reduce its original offer and forebode future health issues. The 30-year-old righty eventually had to go on the disabled list with biceps tendinitis after experiencing shoulder tightness before the fourth start of the season, and finished with a 6-8 record and career-high 5.42 ERA over 23 starts. Gallardo's control, never stellar, deteriorated to a new low, as his 4.65 BB/9 was the worst of his career, while his 67.8 percent strand rate and 1.22 HR/9 also represented his poorest figures in those categories. Determined to put last season's failures behind him in his new setting, Gallardo altered his offseason routine to focus more on strengthening his shoulder and reported feeling "really good" after throwing his initial bullpen session last Thursday, a performance in which drew the praise of general manager Jerry DiPoto for the way Gallardo was hitting his spots.

Gallardo will pitch for Team Mexico in this year's World Baseball Classic, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander, who joined the Mariners via trade on Jan. 6, will be making his second WBC appearance after having participated in the 2013 edition of the tournament. Gallardo currently slots in as Seattle's fifth starter and will try to bounce back from the career-high 5.42 ERA and mediocre 6-8 record he posted in Baltimore in 2016.

Gallardo was traded to the Mariners along with cash considerations for Seth Smith on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Gallardo struggled immensely in what turned out to be his only year in Baltimore, posting a career-worst 5.42 ERA and missing May and most of June with a shoulder injury. If the shoulder problem is the prime reason behind his struggles, he could be a solid bounceback candidate for Seattle, but his ceiling is likely low enough that the risk doesn't make him worth it for most fantasy leagues. The 30-year-old's career-high ERA for a qualified season is 3.42 and he hasn't posted a strikeout rate north of eight per nine innings since 2012. He is likely to land in the rotation, but could see some competition from Ariel Miranda, Nate Karns, and Rob Whalen during spring training.

Gallardo (6-8) gave up an earned run on two hits and four walks over six innings in Friday's 8-1 victory over the Yankees. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Gallardo thus wraps up his up-and-down season with a pair of strong starts, giving up only three earned runs over the 12 innings encompassing his last pair of appearances. The veteran posted three quality starts over his last five trips to the mound, but wraps up the 2016 campaign with his second losing season in the last three, as well as a career-high 1.58 WHIP and 5.42 ERA.
