Mike Adams (shoulder) threw one inning in a minor league game Wednesday. The inning was Adams' first game action since having shoulder surgery last July. The right-hander will pitch again Saturday. Adams hopes to return to the team by April 15 -- just one 15-day stint on the disabled list -- but that may be a bit optimistic at this point.

Adams could be allowed to start throwing, soon, though, so there appears to be a chance he's ready for Grapefruit League action. He was limited to just 28 appearances in 2013 due to injury.

Adams, currently on the 60-day DL, was hoping to avoid surgery but hasn't been able to rehab multiple tears in his labrum/rotator cuff. If he undergoes surgery, Adams will miss the remainder of this season and could be sidelined for the start of 2014.
