Mike Adams underwent successful surgery on Thursday to relieve the symptoms of thoracic outlet syndrome. Adams, who is a free agent this offseason, will need five to six months of recovery time before he's cleared to return. He may not be ready for the start of spring training, but should be good to go before opening day. He'll be a high-risk, high-reward type of free-agent signing.

Mike Adams will undergo surgery on October 18 in order to relieve the symptoms of thoracic outlet syndrome. It's the same procedure that Chris Carpenter had before he made a quicker-than-expected return to the Cardinals' rotation late in the year. Of course, Jeremy Bonderman and Noah Lowry also had the procedure years ago and were never the same afterwards, so there is an unknown element to the surgery. Adams will be a free agent this winter.

Mike Adams (thoracic outlet syndrome) is expected to undergo offseason shoulder surgery. Adams will meet with a specialist Thursday before making the decision final. Chris Carpenter missed the first five months of the season with the same surgery, so the odds are against Adams being medically cleared for spring training. He'll enter free agency as a major red flag injury risk.

According to Rangers GM Jon Daniels, there are still several hurdles that Mike Adams must clear before he is able to return to the mound. Adams has been diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome, which will require offseason surgery. He's not expected to be available for the ALDS, and sounds questionable to return at all in the month of October should the Rangers advance further.

Mike Adams (thoracic outlet syndrome) said he might be ready to throw off a mound on Friday. Adams hasn't pitched since Thursday due to a neck strain and thoracic outlet syndrome. He's hoping to delay surgery until the offseason, but is not expected to be available for the ALDS.

Mike Adams (thoracic outlet syndrome) is not expected to be available for the first round of the playoffs. Adams visited Dr. Drew Dossett Monday, and he didn't put any limitations on the right-hander, but there remains no timetable for when he'll resume throwing. "We haven't made that call yet," general manager Jon Daniels said. "He's still in the mix, but it will be tough to have him active without seeing him throw." Adams is expected to undergo offseason surgery but is hoping to pitch through the injury during the playoffs.

ESPN Dallas reports Mike Adams (neck/shoulder) has been diagnosed with thorasic outlet syndrome. It's the same injury that kept Chris Carpenter out for the majority of the season. Adams will delay surgery and is expected to be sidelined for 7-10 days. The Rangers are hoping he'll be available for the playoffs.

Mike Adams (neck) was diagnosed with a mild cervical strain. That's actually good news for the Rangers, as the MRI ruled out any significant issues with his shoulder. He still hopes to be ready for the playoffs, but it's not clear when he'll resume throwing.

Mike Adams underwent an MRI on his right shoulder Friday and will be sidelined indefinitely. Adams was sidelined earlier this month due to a tight right trapezius muscle and it's apparently still giving him issues. He allowed three home runs in his most recent appearance on Thursday, so it's clear something isn't right.

Mike Adams gave up homers to three of the five batters he faced Thursday against the A's. Adams had allowed just one homer in 51 2/3 innings this season. At least all three of today's homers were solo shots. It took his ERA from 2.79 to 3.27.
