Rzepczynski grabbed his fourth hold of the season in Monday's 6-5 win over the Mariners, notching a strikeout for his one out.
EDGE Analysis
The 31-year-old southpaw's ERA remains perfect through 10.1 innings, making him one of the most valuable components of the Mariners bullpen. Rzepczynski has only allowed a hit in three of his 16 trips to the mound while also notching at least a strikeout in five straight outings.

Rzepczynski (1-0) notched a three-pitch strikeout against the only batter he faced in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
The 31-year-old righty came on in relief of Nick Vincent with two outs in the eighth and Jonathan Lucroy on second, mowing down Joey Gallo on three swinging strikes to snuff out the threat and earn his first win. Following a rough spring, Rzepczynski has been virtually unhittable, giving up just one hit over 8.1 scoreless innings while also generating a 6:2 K:BB. He notched three holds in his first five appearances of the season as well, although he's been shut out in that category since April 14.

Rzepczynski, who endured a rough spring, has been vastly improved in the early going this season, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran reliever raised some concerns this spring by giving up nine runs (eight earned) on 14 hits -- including three home runs -- over 7.2 innings. However, manager Scott Servais warned against reading too much into Rzepczynski's struggles at the time, noting that the thin air in Cactus League parks was exacerbating the situation. Like clockwork, the lefty transformed into a different pitcher once the regular season began, allowing just one hit and no runs over his first seven appearances and limiting left-handed hitters to a .116 average thus far. He's come through in high-leverage situations on multiple occasions, stranding all eight runners that he's inherited. Servais credits Rzepczynski's "veteran presence" and aggressive approach as being particularly valuable, and he appears well on his way to what would be a fourth straight season with double-digit holds.

Rzepczynski notched his second hold of the season by pitching a clean sixth inning in Wednesday's 10-5 loss to the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran southpaw has been perfect save for one hit thus far, firing 2.1 scoreless innings across four appearances. Rzepczynski figures to see occasional hold opportunities in situations that call for a left-handed reliever, and in periodic one-inning stints such as Wednesday's. He's notched double-digit holds in five of the previous six seasons with the Blue Jays, Cardinals, Indians, Padres, A's and Nationals.

Rzepczynski has made the 25-man roster, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran lefty will be part of a southpaw trio in the Mariners relief corps that also includes James Pazos and Dillon Overton. Rzepczynski was hit hard this spring, generating a 9.39 ERA and 1.96 WHIP over 7.7 innings. However, he also posted a stellar 9:1 K:BB and has tallied double-digit holds in five of the last six seasons.

Rzepczynski surrendered six runs (five earned) on five hits and two wild pitches over one inning in Monday's 14-3 rain-shortened Cactus League loss to the Royals. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw endured a disastrous third inning, opening the frame by throwing a wild pitch on a swinging strikeout by Eric Hosmer, allowing the latter to reach. The very next hitter, Salvador Perez, made him pay with a two-run homer and Peter O'Brien repeated the feat following a Brandon Moss single. An Alcides Escobar triple and a Paulo Orlando infield single were responsible for two more runs later in the frame before Rzepczynski escaped by striking out Lorenzo Cain and Hosmer. It was a dubious debut for one of the Mariners' key offseason pitching acquisitions, especially considering he gave up two round-trippers after surrendering just one over 215 batters faced last season.

Rzepczynski, who signed a two-year, $11 million contract with the Mariners on Dec. 1, will be looked at as the lefty specialist the team's bullpen lacked last season, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports. "That's [going to] help quite a bit," Mariners manager Scott Servais said. "With some of the moves in our division, there are more left-handed bats. We were able to kind of maneuver through it last year. We were able to get through it without having a lockdown specialist. But going into the offseason, it was something Jerry (DiPoto, general manager) wanted to address, and we got a pretty good one, there's no doubt."
EDGE Analysis
The 31-year-old southpaw has yielded a .222/.291/.298 line to left-handed hitters over his eight-year career, so his track record certainly provides reason for optimism. Rzepczynski also brings a wealth of big-game experience, having won a World Series in St. Louis and pitching in 21 postseason contests overall. However, his ability to get left-handed hitters out consistently and keep the ball in the park are his most appealing traits to the Mariners, which figure to now have more flexibility with the matchups they can set up out of the bullpen. Notably, Rzepczynski gave up just one homer over the 215 batters he faced in 2016, with that round-tripper ironically having come off the bat of new teammate Kyle Seager.

Rzepczynski agreed to a two-year deal with the Mariners on Thursday, ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports.
EDGE Analysis
Seattle's flurry of offseason moves continued with the addition of Rzepcynski to an already promising bullpen. He should serve as a lefty specialist, as he boasts a 2.59 FIP, 1.08 WHIP and 26.8 percent strikeout rate in 184 career innings against southpaws.

Rzepcyznski has been activated and will be available for Thursday's game against Baltimore, William Ladson of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The recently acquired Rzepcyznski could potentially make his Nationals debut as soon as Thursday. Rzepcyznski posted a strong 3.00 ERA while with the A's this season, but his 1.72 WHIP could be a concern if he's unable to maintain a strong strand rate. The Nationals optioned Reynaldo Lopez to clear a roster spot for Rzepcyznski.

Rzepczynski was traded to the Nationals on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
The A's will also send cash to Washington, which will send back minor league infielder Max Schrock. Rzepczynski has appeared in 56 games for Oakland on the season, posting a 3.00 ERA and 1.72 WHIP across 36 total innings. He's expected to continue to serve as a lefty specialist down the stretch for the Nationals, who hold a seven-game lead on the Marlins in the NL East as of Thursday morning.
