Jonathan Broxton notched his fourth save in four chances Thursday with a scorless ninth against the Pirates. Broxton still hasn't allowed a run in five innings since coming off the DL. He's now pitched on back-to-back days, so we doubt the Reds will want him going again on Friday. Unfortunately, the other quality option in the pen, Sam LeCure, has also worked the last two days, leaving things quite up in the air for Friday. LeCure is more likely than Broxton to pitch in three straight, but it's no sure thing.

Jonathan Broxton pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn his third save of the season in Wednesday's win over the Pirates. Broxton was in a bit of hot water, bringing the tying run to the plate with one out after giving up singles to Chris Stewart and Starling Marte. But Broxton was able to get Neil Walker to fly out and Andrew McCutchen to ground out to end the game. Broxton hasn't exactly been lights out, but has gotten the job done and will be asked to continue to do so until Aroldis Chapman is ready to return.

Jonathan Broxton slammed the door on the Cubs in the ninth inning on Friday, preserving a three-run lead and earning his second save of the season. Broxton walked one and struck out a pair in the outing. He's looked mighty impressive since returning from the disabled list and should be started in all mixed leagues until Aroldis Chapman returns from the disabled list.

Jonathan Broxton worked a scoreless inning against the Rays in his 2014 debut on Friday. Broxton came on in a non-save situation with the Reds trailing 2-0 in the ninth inning, and though he surrendered a two-out walk to Ben Zobrist, he escaped the inning unscathed and struck out a pair. Now that he has that first outing out of the way, he's expected to serve as the Reds closer until Aroldis Chapman returns.

Reds manager Bryan Price indicated that Jonathan Broxton will not be used to close in his first appearance back from the disabled list. Price wants Broxton to get his feet wet with one appearance before he installs him as the club's closer, so JJ Hoover or Manny Parra could get another shot if there's a save chance Tuesday. However, Price has made no secret about his desire to use Broxton as the main ninth inning man until Aroldis Chapman (head) returns.

Reds activated RHP Jonathan Broxton from the 15-day disabled list. Broxton was a bit behind during spring training after forearm surgery last August, but he made it through a couple of rehab appearances without incident and is ready to join the Reds' bullpen. Bryan Price plans to use him a fill-in closer until Aroldis Chapman is ready to return from the disabled list, so he's worth picking up in most fantasy formats.

Jonathan Broxton (forearm) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Pensacola Friday. He'll throw an inning Friday and Saturday for the Blue Wahoos. The Reds haven't set an exact day for Broxton's activation from the DL, but they seem to be targeting next Monday. He's expected to serve as the club's closer until Aroldis Chapman (head) returns from the disabled list next month.

Reds manager Bryan Price said Wednesday that Jonathan Broxton (elbow) could return from the disabled list next week and move directly into the closer role. Broxton is almost fully recovered from offseason forearm surgery and will take on major fantasy value as soon as he's activated if Price indeed names him the ninth-inning man. Aroldis Chapman is expected to return at some point in May from his facial fractures. JJ Hoover is the guy to own in the Cincinnati bullpen for now.

Reds placed RHP Jonathan Broxton on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 22, with a torn flexor mass tendon. Broxton is coming along slowly but surgery from offseason surgery, but he needs more time. He figures to beat Aroldis Chapman (head) back from the DL, which means he could eventually be in line for some save chances.

Jonathan Broxton (forearm) struggled with his command in his second Cactus League outing on Friday, walking a pair in a scoreless inning of work against the Royals. Broxton also allowed a hit and fanned one in his inning of work. He's progressing nicely in his throwing program, but is nearly certain to begin the season on the disabled list. With he and Sean Marshall rehabbing, J.J. Hoover appears to be the favorite for saves in the Reds bullpen in the early going.
