Solano (elbow) rejected an outright assignment to Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday and elected to become a free agent, Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Solano, who didn't appear in a game in 2018 due to an elbow injury, will hit the open market after spending the past 12 seasons with the Nationals. The 33-year-old has appeared in just 43 major-league games across parts of three different seasons (most recently in 2015), slashing .184/.222/.301 over that stretch. He figures to serve as organizational catching depth wherever he winds up in 2019.

Solano (elbow) was moved to the 60-day disabled list Monday, Byron Kerr of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Solano originally hit the 10-day DL with bone spurs in his right elbow. He was moved to the 60-day DL in order to make room on the active roster for Jeremy Hellickson. Solano will now be ineligible to return before mid-June.

Solano was placed on the 10-day disabled list with bone spurs in his right elbow, Dan Kolko of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's unclear when the injury arose, but it comes at a convenient time, as Miguel Montero was able to return from the paternity list in a corresponding move. It's unclear how long Solano will be sidelined with this issue, but elbow issues are never anything to scoff at.

Solano's contract was purchased from Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday, Dan Kolko of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Miguel Montero was placed on the paternity list, so the Nationals needed another healthy catcher to back up Saturday's starter, Pedro Severino. Solano is a 32-year-old journeyman with 108 MLB plate appearances under his belt, hitting .184 in that limited work. He spent all of 2017 at Triple-A, hitting .241/.287/.338, so there's not much to see here from a fantasy perspective. He should be optioned to Triple-A once Montero rejoins the team.

Solano, who was designated for assignment Saturday, was outrighted to Triple-A New Orleans on Monday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. With J.T. Realmuto and Jeff Mathis both healthy, Solano is left as the third catcher in the organization. Despite only striking out once, Solano has just one hit in 20 at-bats this season.

Solano was designated for assignment by the Marlins on Saturday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. The Marlins brought Solano up earlier in the week for some insurance behind the plate with J.T. Realmuto nursing some back pain, but Realmuto returned Friday and rendered Solano expendable. Justin Nicolino was summoned to replace Solano, who has gone 1-for-20 with the big club this season.

Solano's contract was selected from Triple-A New Orleans on Thursday. Solano will replace Martin Prado on the Marlins' 25-man roster, but not in the field. He hit just .050/.095/.100 over 20 at-bats in seven games with the Marlins earlier in the season, so even if he sees a couple starts, he's not a big threat offensively.

Solano was designated for assignment Friday, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports. Now that Jeff Mathis (finger) is back from the disabled list, Solano is left as the third catcher in the organization, assuming he clears waivers. With just one hit in 20 at-bats this season, Solano probably won't draw much interest.

Solano was called up from Triple-A New Orleans on Friday. The catcher will join the Marlins to take the place of Jared Saltalamacchia, who was placed on the paternity list. Solano, who signed with the Marlins as a camp invitee back in December, has not appeared in a major league game since 2013, when he saw action in 24 contests for the Nationals. He was hitting just .185 with three RBI in 27 Triple-A at-bats (seven games).

Solano signed a minor league contract with the Marlins on Monday that includes an invite to spring training, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. Solano did manage a career-high 10 homers in 93 games with Triple-A Syracuse last season, but he hit just .251/.305/.388 for the year, raising his overall batting line at the Triple-A level to .243/.289/.346. He'll get to spend spring training with his brother, Donovan, but Solano will face a difficult battle to earn a roster spot, with Austin Barnes, J.T. Realmuto and Jeff Mathis all ahead of him on the depth chart.
