Nationals purchased the contract of C Jhonatan Solano from Triple-A Syracuse.
Solano, 26, batted .275/.325/.388 with five homers, 33 RBI and a .719 OPS over 279 plate appearances this season at the Triple-A level. He is known as a solid defender, so one wonders if the Nationals kept him with the idea of developing him as a backup catcher and dealing from their surplus of Jesus Flores and Derek Norris.
