Shields (2-3) allowed five runs -- three earned -- on five hits and three walks while striking out four batters through four innings during Wednesday's loss to the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
After allowing 16 runs through 15 innings over his previous three starts, things continued to go poorly for Shields on Wednesday. The veteran righty owns a crippling 5.86 ERA and 1.66 WHIP, and his 6.8 K/9 isn't moving the fantasy needle, either. With the White Sox clear sellers leading into the trade deadline, it's also not a great setup for Shields moving forward. He projects to make his next start against the Blue Jays at Guaranteed Rate Field.

Shields coughed up six runs on 10 hits and three walks over 4.1 innings but escaped with a no-decision in Friday's extra-inning loss to the Royals. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander continues to struggle, and since rejoining the rotation in mid-June, Shields has an 8.10 ERA, 1.90 WHIP and 18:15 K:BB in 30 innings over six starts. His next outing is scheduled for Wednesday at home against the Cubs, but if the White Sox decide to bring up young arms like Lucas Giolito or Reynaldo Lopez, Shields could get bumped from the rotation at a moment's notice.

Shields (2-2) allowed four runs on seven hits and three walks over six innings in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Mariners. He struck out one.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran righty made only one real mistake, but Robinson Cano took that hung slider and drove it over the wall in right-center for a three-run homer that proved to be the difference in the game. Shields has now served up at least one home run in seven of his eight starts this season, and a 2.3 HR/9 combined with a 4.7 BB/9 makes his 5.10 ERA seem almost fortunate. With the White Sox lacking alternatives for their rotation, though, he'll head back to the mound next Friday on the road against the Royals.

Shields allowed six runs on six hits and two walks across 4.2 innings in Tuesday's no-decision against the Athletics. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Shields fell victim to the long ball in this one, allowing home runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings to account for five of the runs on his ledger. He routinely worked from behind, throwing first-pitch strikes to just 11 of 22 hitters, and he was in the strike zone just 58 percent of the time. This outing marked the second time in the last three that Shields gave up six earned runs and his ERA has inflated to 4.95 after a promising start to the season. Home runs allowed remain a key factor in his performance from start to start, and he will look to improve in that aspect after the All-Star break when he next takes the mound.

Shields (2-1) allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits and three walks in Thursday's win over the Yankees. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
Shields put together one of his best outings all season against a potent Yankees offense, and he was able to notch his first quality start in three tries since returning from the disabled list as a result. He still wasn't extremely sharp, as he walked more batters than he struck out and allowed some hard contact, but the positive news is that he didn't allow a home run for the first time all season. The 35-year-old, who has compiled a 3.98 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 31.2 innings this season, is lined up to face the A's in his next scheduled start.

Shields (1-1) gave up six runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out five over three innings in a loss to the A's on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
He held his own in his first start back from the DL, but Shields took a step back in this one, reverting to his 2016 ways with three home runs allowed. The 35-year-old saw his ERA and WHIP shoot from 2.42 and 1.21, respectively, to 4.26 and 1.46 with this poor showing. Shields is in line for a terrifying matchup against the Yankees his next time out.

Shields (shoulder) allowed three runs on seven hits and one walk across 5.2 innings in Sunday's no-decision against the Blue Jays. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Shields, who was making his first start in over two months because of a shoulder injury, allowed just one run through his initial five frames. He got the first two men in the sixth but faded a bit as he proceeded to walk Troy Tulowitzki before Russell Martin launched a two-run home run to chase him from the game. Shields worked up to 86 pitches and was in the strike zone at a 66 percent clip -- two positive signs after such a long layoff -- and he will look to build on an encouraging return to the mound Saturday against the Athletics.

Shields (shoulder) was activated from the 10-day disabled list in advance of his scheduled start Sunday against the Blue Jays, Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
In order to make room for Shields on the active roster, rotation mate Miguel Gonzalez (shoulder) was placed on the disabled list. After completing three productive rehab starts with Triple-A Charlotte, Shields should face no limitations while he rejoins the White Sox for his first appearance in over two months. The right-hander was off to a nice start to the season before hitting the DL for the first time in his career, compiling a 1.62 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 16.2 innings.

Shields (shoulder) is expected to come off the disabled list and start Sunday's game against the Blue Jays, Scot Gregor of the Chicago Daily Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shields has been cleared to rejoin the White Sox's rotation after making three minor-league rehab starts for Triple-A Charlotte. The 35-year-old will look to pick up where he left in the big-leagues, as he had allowed just three runs on nine hits across 16.2 innings (three starts) before landing on the DL. He also struck out 16 batters, though he did walk five.

Shields (shoulder) will make one more rehab start before being activated off the DL, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shields recently threw 72 pitches on Thursday for Triple-A Charlotte, going over five innings while only allowing two runs on four hits. The right-hander also struck out five, and will look to make one last start before rejoining the White Sox. This likely means that Shields won't appear with Chicago until June 18 at the earliest.
