Lucas Giolito Has Arrived (For Real) rotoballer.com Sat 5/25/19 8:15 AM

As a fan of Lucas Giolito and his potential for the last couple of years, I have to admit I'm bummed about his last outing. A complete game, four-hit shutout on the road against the Houston Astros, MLB's top offensive team???This would be great, except couldn't you have waited until I finished this article first? By mid-May it was obvious he was already on to something with his improved control. Then there's the fact I didn't have the guts to put him in my rotation days after picking him up in a[...]

The 37-year-old wasn't close to signing with a team as of Monday night, but his market is expected to take shape in the coming weeks. Dallas Keuchel is the most coveted free-agent arm, but he is increasingly likely to wait until after next month's draft before signing. The T[...]

Previously, we looked at Barrels, a stat combining exit velocity and launch angle to measure how often a batter makes quality hard contact. As much as batters want to hit a Barrel every time, pitchers want to avoid them at all costs. Yet there is some evidence that pitchers do not have the same influence over Barrels as a batter does.[...]

Well, it took only three days into the Winter Meetings for the White Sox to... trade for Ivan Nova. While this may not have been the big move White Sox fans have been waiting for, the addition of Nova will be a boost for their rotation in 2019. White Sox Keeping Nate Jones, Not James Shields rotoballer.com Mon 10/29/18 4:08 PM

The Chicago White Sox exercised their $4.65 million club option on relief pitcher Nate Jones while declining to pick up starting pitcher James Shields' $16 million option for 2019 in favor of a $2 million buyout. Jones only threw 30 innings in 2018 due to arm injuries, but he had a 3.00 ERA and five saves in 33 appearances and could be in the mix for more saves next year if he's healthy. Shields went 7-16 with a 4.53 ERA, 1.31 [...]

Shields can be avoided in his next start on Thursday against the Cleveland Indians.
