Shields allowed one run on four hits and four walks while striking out three over 6.2 innings, taking a no decision in Monday's 5-3 loss to the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Shields, who overcame a rocky first inning that included a leadoff homer, a single, and two walks, left after 88 pitches with a 2-1. It was the fourth quality start in the last five outings for the 36-year-old right-hander, who lowered his ERA to 3.15 over the last 10 starts. He'll see a tougher opponent the next time out when takes the mound Saturday against the Astros.

Shields (2-9) took the loss to the Athletics on Friday, lasting 4.2 innings while allowing eight runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
A one-out fielding error in the second led to four of the unearned runs crossing the plate. A fielding error and a wild pitch in the fifth created the other two. Shields did little help himself even with the defensive miscues, though, and remains a risky start for most fantasy games.

Shields will start the first game of Friday's doubleheader, the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
The White Sox's game Thursday was postponed due to inclement and will be made up as part of a doubleheader Friday, which is Shields' scheduled day. He'll get the ball for Friday's 3:10 pm start while Thursday's scheduled starter, Lucas Giolito, throws in the nightcap.

Shields allowed three runs on six hits and four walks while striking out five over six innings in Sunday's 3-1 loss to the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
Shields wasn't at this best, but kept the White Sox in the game after falling behind Detroit's Nicholas Castellanos, who hit a two-run home run in the first inning. The White Sox put men on base, out-hitting the Tigers, 9-6, but were unable to string hits together. It didn't help that Jose Abreu was out of the lineup. This was the 11th consecutive start in which Shields has lasted at least six innings, with eight of those outings getting the "quality" label. He'll next take the hill Friday at home against the Athletics.

Shields (2-7) picked up the win Tuesday against the Indians. He allowed just one run on four hits while striking out two over seven innings.
EDGE Analysis
Shields turned in his best outing of the year against a potent Indians lineup. He allowed just one hit through the first five innings and was able to limit the opposition to just one run over the following two frames despite giving up doubles in both the sixth and seventh inning. The strong outing lowered Shields' ERA to a 4.63 mark and gave him his first winning decision since Opening Day. His two strikeouts were a bit disappointing, but any fantasy owners courageous enough to start the 36-year-old Tuesday were surely thrilled with the final result. He'll square off against the Tigers on Sunday.

Shields (1-7) allowed seven earned runs on eight hits -- including three home runs -- in Thursday's 7-2 loss to Minnesota. He struck out six batters and walked a pair.
EDGE Analysis
Shields was coming off four straight starts allowing three earned runs or fewer, but simply got knocked around Thursday, allowing all seven runs in the first four innings. His ERA has swollen back up to a 4.92 with a unsightly 57:33 K:BB ratio in 82.1 innings in 2018. The 36-year-old will face a tough matchup next week against Cleveland and should be avoided for fantasy purposes in that one.

Shields (1-6) took the loss after seven strong innings against the Brewers on Saturday, giving up three earned runs on eight hits and a walk. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
Shields was able to work out of trouble on the bases throughout the start, but was burned by three solo home runs. Regardless, the White Sox offense once again failed to provide run support, saddling the 36-year-old with his third loss -- plus four no decisions -- since the start of May, despite a 3.44 ERA and 0.98 WHIP over those seven starts. Shields next start is scheduled to come next Thursday at Minnesota.

Shields (1-5) took the loss against the Tigers on Sunday, as he allowed three runs on five hits and three walks while fanning four across seven innings.
EDGE Analysis
Shields delivered a quality start, but he didn't get enough run support from his offense to garner a win. The 36-year-old has had a rough beginning to the season, as his last win came in his first outing of the year at the end of March. Shields will look to put together another decent performance in his next start, which figures to come Saturday against the Brewers.

Shields allowed two runs on five hits in seven innings against the Orioles on Tuesday, striking out five and walking two in a no-decision.
EDGE Analysis
Shields gave up two runs in the second (an RBI double by Mark Trumbo and an RBI groundout by Jace Peterson), and was able to hold the Orioles at bay for the rest. Shields has now registered quality starts in four of his last five outings, bringing his ERA down to 4.62 in the process. The veteran's 41:27 K:BB in 62.1 innings is not overly impressive, but he is holding opponents to a .224 batting average while giving up just four homers on the year. His next start will come against the Tigers in Detroit.

Shields fell to 1-4 on the season after giving up five runs in six innings Saturday against the Cubs. He struck out four while allowing seven runs and three walks.
EDGE Analysis
The Cubs got to Shields right away, with Anthony Rizzo hitting a three-run homer before the veteran could get a single out. He allowed a further run in the first and another in the second before settling down for four straight scoreless innings. His ERA now sits at 5.44 through 48 innings. It's familiar territory, as he hasn't recorded an ERA below 5 since 2015. He'll next take the hill Thursday against the Rangers.
