Despite his Wednesday relief appearance, Turner is still planned to be in the Nationals rotation moving forward, Jorge Castillo of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Turner will still take the spot that belonged to the recently demoted Joe Ross, but the Nats haven't revealed when that will be. We'll have more when Washington confirms its rotation alignment in the coming days.

Turner is unlikely to make his scheduled spot start Friday after pitching in relief Wednesday, Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
While Turner was initially expected to take Joe Ross' turn in the Nationals' rotation, the 25-year-old tossed 54 pitches across four scoreless innings of relief Wednesday, essentially ruling him out as Friday's starter against the Phillies. A.J. Cole is now expected to make the start, while Turner should continue to provide length out of the bullpen for the time being.

Turner (1-0) allowed just two hits over four scoreless relief innings while striking out four batters to collect his first win of the season Wednesday against Arizona.
EDGE Analysis
The once-coveted prospect has never been able to put it all together at highest level and owns a 5.21 ERA through 54 career starts. Turner was expected to start against the Phillies on Saturday, so there's a chance that Wednesday's 54-pitch outing alters Washington's upcoming rotation plans. While there are currently a few too many unknowns surrounding Turner to warrant much fantasy attention in most settings, he's certainly an arm to keep tabs on. The Nationals are built to contend, and talented pitchers on good ball clubs are always of interest.

Turner will enter the Nationals rotation and is expected to make his second start of the season Saturday against the Phillies, Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Turner made a spot start in Colorado last week when Stephen Strasburg was on the paternity list and acquitted himself well, surrendering three runs over six innings while striking out six batters and walking none. He was sent back to the bullpen when Strasburg returned to action later in the week, but it now appears Turner may receive a longer trial in a starting role with the Nationals banishing the struggling Joe Ross to Triple-A Syracuse. The team still intends to develop Ross as a starter and remains hopeful that he'll reemerge as a rotation option after ironing things out in the minors, but if Turner performs well in his subsequent outings, he could change the Nationals' plans. Over 330.1 career innings in the big leagues, Turner owns a 5.09 ERA and 1.50 WHIP, so it's difficult to forecast much success for him as he joins the rotation.

Turner will remain with the Nationals and pitch out of the bullpen even after Stephen Strasburg's activation from the paternity list, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
The team would've needed to expose him to waivers to send Turner back to Triple-A, but the fact that the Nats didn't have a long man in the 'pen may have also played a factor in the decision to keep him around. The 25-year-old was solid Monday in his first start of the season, allowing three runs with a 6:0 K:BB over six innings at Coors Field, and if Joe Ross struggles as the fifth starter or injuries crop up, Turner could get another look in the rotation down the road.

Turner allowed three runs on six hits (one home run) while walking none and striking out six over six innings for a no-decision in Monday's 8-4 loss to the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Two of the three runs he allowed came on a home run off the bat of Mark Reynolds in the sixth inning. Turner threw 59 of his 84 pitches for strikes in the outing. Because he was making a spot start with Stephen Strasburg on the paternity list, Turner will likely head back to the minors following this one.

Turner will start Monday against the Rockies in Colorado, Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Dusty Baker confirmed that Turner will start Monday, and he was quite frank when discussing the reasoning behind the decision, saying the club didn't want any of its prospects debuting at Coors Field. Turner, the ninth overall pick back in 2009, has posted a 5.09 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 210:123 K:BB in 79 career appearances at the major-league level (323.1 innings). The Nats will need to add him to the active roster ahead of Monday's game.

Turner is expected to be called up from Triple-A Syracuse for next week's series against the Rockies, Jorge Castillo of the Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Turner has gotten off to a solid start at Triple-A Syracuse this season. Over three games (10.1 innings) he's allowed just three runs, giving him a 2.61 ERA. However, Turner's minor-league success has yet to consistently translate to the majors. For his major-league career, Turner owns an ERA and WHIP of 5.09 and 1.51, respectively.

Turner was reassigned to the Nationals' minor-league camp Wednesday, MLB.com's Jamal Collier reports.
EDGE Analysis
A former top prospect, Turner never made much of a case for a roster spot with the big club after proving far too hittable in spring training, as he was lit up for 12 runs (11 earned) on 20 hits and five walks over 18 innings in Grapefruit League play. He's expected to serve as organizational pitching depth at Triple-A Syracuse this season.

Turner signed a minor league deal with the Nationals on Tuesday that includes an invitation to spring training, the Washington Post's Chelsea Janes reports.
EDGE Analysis
The time has long since passed when people could realistically wait on a breakout year from the former top pitching prospect. Turner has a 5.09 ERA and 210:123 K:BB over 323.1 big league innings. He should serve as organizational depth at the Triple-A level for the Nationals in 2017.
