Turner was designated for assignment by the Nationals on Tuesday, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Turner had his contract selected just a day earlier in order to provide a fresh arm in Washington's bullpen, but he'll head back to the minors without making a single appearance. He'll likely serve as an organizational depth piece moving forward, although he could also log a spot start or two if Edwin Jackson (who will replace him on the 40-man roster in a corresponding move) falters in his opportunities.

The Nationals selected Turner's contract from Triple-A Syracuse on Monday, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Turner was initially viewed as an option to replace Joe Ross in the rotation for Tuesday's series opener against the Angels in Anaheim, but the Nationals will instead bring aboard Edwin Jackson from Triple-A to slot into the rotation. If Jackson falters, Turner could receive another look in a starting role, but for the time being, it appears he'll act as the Nats' long man out of the bullpen. Over 18 appearances (two starts) with the big club this season, Turner has compiled a 5.08 ERA and 1.49 WHIP in 39 innings.

Turner was outrighted to Triple-A Syracuse on Monday, Dan Kolko of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
After being dropped from the Nats' 40-man roster Saturday, Turner passed through waivers unclaimed and will stick in the organization as pitching depth. Now that he no longer possesses a 40-man spot, Turner will face a tougher path to resurfacing in the big leagues.

Turner was designated for assignment by the Nationals on Saturday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNsports.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Turner was cut loose after getting tagged for five runs over 3.2 innings in Friday's loss to the Cardinals. The move clears room on the roster for Sammy Solis (elbow), who was recently activated from the 60-day disabled list. Although he sports an unsightly 5.08 ERA and 23:15 K:BB through 39 innings this season, the 26-year-old could catch on with another team given his past major-league experience. If not, he'll likely report back to Triple-A.

Turner has given up seven runs in 11 innings of relief since his last start May 17.
EDGE Analysis
While the season ERA of 4.41 isn't opening any eyes, it's been about as good as the Nationals could have hoped for after his ERA was over six in each of the last two seasons. His fastball is up to a career high 95 MPH, but the velocity hasn't translated into strikeouts as he is only averaging 5.2 per nine innings. Despite making his big league debut in 2011, Turner is still only 26 years old, suggesting the former first-round pick still has a chance to turn his career around, but expecting a huge improvement sometime this season is probably a stretch.

Turner (2-3) allowed two runs on four hits and a walk over one inning during Thursday's loss to the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
Turner was bumped to the bullpen to make room for Joe Ross to start Tuesday, and Ross spun a gem. Turner's current prospects of returning to the rotation look slim, and in the majority of virtual settings, long relievers aren't able to move the fantasy needle. Turner's 4.37 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 6.0 K/9 don't jump off the page, either.

Turner won't be in line to start Tuesday against the Mariners with the Nationals planning to call up Joe Ross from Triple-A Syracuse to take the hill for that contest, Jamal Collier of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
After entering the rotation last Wednesday as the Nationals' fifth starter, Turner looked to be in line for a two-start week, but that's no longer on the table with the impending promotion of Ross. Manager Dusty Baker has yet to formally declare that Turner will move back to a long-relief role, so if Ross scuffles in his return to the big club, Turner could be asked to step back into the rotation over the weekend against the Padres.

Turner (2-2) gave up three runs on four hits and four walks while striking out just one batter in 5.1 innings against the Pirates on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
He also hit a batter. All in all, Turner was lucky to get away with just three runs on his ledger after falling apart in the sixth inning, when he allowed all his runs. The nearly 26-year-old righty has had an unusual season; he posted a strong start against the Rockies at Coors Field right after being called up, then looked decent in the bullpen, and now he's faded late against a struggling offense, seemingly tiring early upon returning to the rotation. Turner's history of posting awful K/BB ratios makes this start all the more troubling. It's not yet clear whether he'll hold on to his rotation spot, but if he does, he'll be lined up to start Tuesday against Seattle.

Turner will draw the start Wednesday against the Pirates, Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
With the Nationals' No. 5 starter slot in flux, Turner will get the call to make his second start of the season Wednesday. The 25-year-old allowed three runs over six frames, while adding six strikeouts during his previous start against the Rockies at Coors Field on April 24. He'll get a slightly easier test this time around, as Pittsburgh's offense has posted the third-worst OPS against right-handed pitching this season.

Turner will not start Thursday and is expected to remain in the bullpen for now, MASN's Mark Zuckerman reports.
EDGE Analysis
He was expected to get the start Thursday against the Orioles, but A.J. Cole will in fact get another start after he logged a quality start against the Phillies last weekend. Neither pitcher should be expected to pitch particularly well while they are occupying the No. 5 starter spot with Joe Ross working on some things at Triple-A, so this ongoing competition should only affect those in very deep leagues.
