He hasn't posted an ERA south of 5.00 since 2013, so he won't be anything more than an innings eater even if he earns a roster spot with a strong spring.

Although he improved slightly since his dreadful campaign in Chicago, Turner still hasn't been able to make hitters miss, as he allowed 43 hits, while posting a 23:15 K:BB last season. This will be the second stint for Turner with the Marlins, as he spent almost two years with the team from 2012 to 2014, including his best professional season as a starter in 2013. Moving forward, he will serve as organizational depth for the Marlins, but shouldn't be counted on to provide much else for this upcoming campaign.

Turner cleared waivers Wednesday and was subsequently assigned to Triple-A Syracuse, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.
