The Marlins released Turner on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Turner broke camp with the Marlins and was hit hard in four appearances out of the bullpen before getting designated for assignment in April. After going unclaimed off waivers, he remained in the organization and reported to Triple-A New Orleans, where he struggled to find much success in long relief. Over 11 outings, Turner surrendered 14 runs on 31 hits and eight walks over 21.2 innings.

Turner was designated for assignment Sunday, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Turner broke camp with the big-league club but has struggled mightily in the early going with a 15.88 ERA over his first 5.2 innings, including a disastrous showing Saturday in which he allowed eight earned runs on six hits and three walks over one inning of work against the Phillies. Tyler Cloyd had his contract selected from Triple-A New Orleans to fill Turner's spot in the bullpen.

The Marlins selected Turner's contract from Triple-A New Orleans on Thursday, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Turner, who had attended camp as a non-roster invitee, is slated to work out of the bullpen to begin the season, but could eventually get a trial in a Marlins rotation that's lacking in established starters. Regardless of how he accumulates most of innings, Turner is unlikely to bring much value, given his career 5.09 ERA and 5.7 K/9 in the big leagues.

Turner has earned an Opening Day roster spot and will start the season in the Marlins' bullpen, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Turner was competing for a spot in the starting rotation but will instead settle for a bullpen role though the Marlins still need to add him to the 40-man roster. The 26-year-old is likely to serve in middle and long relief for Miami, limiting his fantasy upside -- although he could also be utilized as a spot starter. Turner had a 5.20 ERA and 1.55 WHIP with 16 strikeouts over 27.2 innings out of the bullpen for the Nationals in 2017.

Turner (illness) is listed on the Marlins' pitching schedule Sunday for the team's split-squad Grapefruit League game against the Astros, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Turner had been previously scheduled to make a Grapefruit League appearance Thursday against the Astros, but that plan was nixed after the right-hander experienced flu-like symptoms. After taking the last three days off to recover, Turner seems to have turned a corner on the health front, keeping his bid for a spot in the Marlins' Opening Day rotation alive.

Turner was scratched from his scheduled Grapefruit League start Thursday against the Astros due to flu-like symptoms, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Though Turner likely won't be unavailable for more than a few days while he recovers from the illness, his absence Thursday still represents a slight blow to his hopes of cracking an unsettled Marlins rotation. There could be as many as four spots still up for grabs in the Miami starting ranks if Dan Straily (forearm) is unavailable for the start of the season, so Turner will likely need to get on the mound once more this spring and turn in a decent outing to put himself in better position for one of the rotation openings. Nick Neidert was brought in from minor-league camp to start Thursday's game in Turner's stead.

Turner remains in the running for one of the Marlins' three open rotation spots, Clark Spencer of The Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 26-year-old right-hander is one of the most experienced pitchers in the mix with 362.1 big-league innings under his belt, but Turner hasn't exactly excelled with a 5.09 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 5.3 K/9 in the majors. He's had a solid spring to date, though, posting a 5:2 K:BB in 7.2 innings, and if the Marlins decide they'd rather not push a prospect like Sandy Ancantara too quickly to begin the season, Turner could well be the beneficiary. The club would need to find room on the 40-man roster for him for that to happen, but that likely won't be much of a hurdle given all the talent the front office jettisoned over the winter.

Turner is competing for one of the Marlins' final three rotation spots in spring training, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Turner joins a group of around 10 or so pitchers vying for a spot in the Marlins' rotation this spring, with Dan Straily and Jose Urena representing the only two Opening Day locks at this point. While he worked primarily as a starter early on in his career, Turner has spent the majority of the past two seasons in a relief role, appearing in 36 games for the Nationals and White Sox but making just four starts over that span. He hasn't posted an ERA south of 5.00 since 2013, so he won't be anything more than an innings eater even if he earns a roster spot with a strong spring.

Turner agreed to terms with Miami on Wednesday, Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander pitched in 18 games for the Nationals in 2017, racking up a 5.08 ERA and 1.49 WHIP in 39 innings. Turner has typically been a starter, but appeared as a reliever for Washington on 16 of those 18 occasions, which was identical to his deployment with the White Sox a year prior. Although he improved slightly since his dreadful campaign in Chicago, Turner still hasn't been able to make hitters miss, as he allowed 43 hits, while posting a 23:15 K:BB last season. This will be the second stint for Turner with the Marlins, as he spent almost two years with the team from 2012 to 2014, including his best professional season as a starter in 2013. Moving forward, he will serve as organizational depth for the Marlins, but shouldn't be counted on to provide much else for this upcoming campaign.

Turner cleared waivers Wednesday and was subsequently assigned to Triple-A Syracuse, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
After having his contract selected to provide additional relief help, Turner was DFA'd for the second time this season Tuesday, but he'll remain with the organization following the move. The former first-round pick owns a 6.50 ERA over five starts with Syracuse this season, but has already spent plenty of time in the big leagues, making 18 appearances with the Nationals earlier this season before being demoted.
