Brown (Achilles) did some light running Thursday, CSN Philadelphia reports. Brown is still not ready to play in a game, however, and remains a candidate to begin the year on the disabled list if he can not get back on the field soon.

Brown (Achilles) will try running Thursday, the Phillies' official site reports. Brown, who hit in the cage for the first time Wednesday, is sidelined with tendinitis in his left Achilles. He hopes to be ready for Opening Day, but will need to get back on the field soon for that to happen.

Brown (Achilles) has made progress over the last three or four days, but he may still open the season on the disabled list, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. While Brown hasn't been ruled out for Opening Day, the Phillies already acknowledged that he could miss the first week of the season. There's no indication that this is a long-term issue, as Brown made it pretty clear that he's already noticed significant improvement.

Brown has been diagnosed with moderate tendinitis in his left Achilles, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. Fortunately, Brown's MRI showed no tear in his left Achilles' tendon and thus it does not seem an extended absence is in store, but it may be up to a week before he plays again. Brian Bogusevic got the start in right field for the Phillies on Friday, and Jordan Danks, Odubel Herrera and Darin Ruf could all see additional playing time in Brown's absence as well.

Brown left Thursday's spring training game early with Achilles soreness, Ryan Lawrence of Philadelphia Daily News reports. Brown's soreness limited him to just two at-bats, but the issue doesn't sound as though it's serious. However, the situation should monitored in case something more emerges.

Brown was scratched Monday due to dehydration, the Philadelphia Daily News' Ryan Lawrence reports. This sounds like a minor ailment that should only sideline Brown for a day or two. This may be the last year Brown has to try to distinguish himself as an everyday corner outfielder for the Phillies, as he looks to bounce back from a forgettable 2014 season.

The Phillies have Mike Schmidt, who is in camp as a guest hitting instructor, working with Brown to adjust his swing, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Schmidt wants Brown to focus on a line drive approach toward the middle of the field rather than using an uppercut swing. Brown hit just .235/.285/.349 with 10 home runs last year after an All-Star 2013 season. The Phillies will give him a chance to return to form this season as their starting right fielder.

Brown agreed to a one-year, $2.5 million contract with the Phillies on Friday, avoiding arbitration, Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com reports. Brown followed up his All-Star campaign in 2013 with a nightmare of a season in 2014, as he hit just .235/.285/.349 with 10 homers and 63 RBI in 144 games. His .269 BABIP and 7.9% HR/FB rate were below his career norms, but it's hard to imagine Brown rebounding to anywhere near his 2013 levels. Still, Brown should be afforded fairly consistent playing time in 2015, with a move to right field expected following the Marlon Byrd trade to Cincinnati.
