Brown is out of the lineup Friday against the Padres, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Interim manager Pete Mackanin indicated Friday that he plans to give the youngster Aaron Altherr more playing time "in the near future," and that will likely impact both Brown and Cody Asche's playing time as well. Brown won't play Friday, and it sounds as though the situation will remain relatively fluid moving forward.

Brown will see his playing time cut further as interim manager Pete Mackanin said he plans to get Aaron Altherr more playing time "in the near future," the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Mackanin said Altherr will cut into the playing time of both Brown and Cody Asche. Brown is already platooning with Jeff Francoeur, so his value takes another hit with Altherr taking additional starts away from him. Brown is hitting just .230/.284/.350 with five home run in 183 at-bats this season.

GM Ruben Amaro Jr. said Brown will need to start producing to stay in the lineup, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. "He's going to be getting some chances," Amaro said. "But his leash isn't as long as it used to be. That's been communicated to him." Brown has been getting fairly regular playing time since returning from the minors last month. On Wednesday, he made his 18th start in the Phillies' last 24 games. He went 2-for-4 with a double Wednesday, but those types of games have been few and far between for Brown. He is hitting just .205/.275/.260 and has not homered yet this season.

Brown is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers, Stephen Gross of The Morning Call reports. Brown continues to receive most of the starts in right field, but he will receive the day off Wednesday. Ben Revere will slide over from center field to play in right, while Odubel Herrera will enter the lineup in center field and bat seventh for the Phillies.

Brown is out of the lineup for the first game of Sunday's doubleheader against the Nationals, Stephen Gross of The Morning Call reports. After starting the last several games in a row in right field for the Phillies, Brown will surprisingly find himself on the bench for the second contest in a row, as Jeff Francoeur draws the start for Game 1 of the twin bill. It's expected that Brown will be out there for the second game of the day, but it doesn't appear as though he's fully wrested the starting job for himself just yet. He'll probably need to make further improvement upon his .179/.304/.256 batting line before any notable separation from Francoeur is created.

Brown went 0-for-4 in Sunday's loss to the Pirates. Brown was making his first start since being recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Manager Ryne Sandberg said he will mix and match in the outfield in order to get Brown starts. The rotation likely means four or five starts per week for Brown unless he hits and forces the Phillies to give him additional playing time.

Brown will start in right field and bat sixth Sunday against the Pirates. Brown will make his first start since Saturday's promotion, and will continue to compete for reps in the corner outfield spots moving forward. He remains an intriguing option with the potential to provide power numbers, but needs to earn consistent playing time before becoming a reliable fantasy option.
