Brown was recalled by the Phillies following their game Saturday. He replaces the struggling Darin Ruf, and will offer the Phillies another warm body to deploy in the outfield corners. While Brown has more perceived upside than most players in the Phillies' outfield, he has also struggled to reach his potential throughout his professional career. He had two home runs and 10 steals while hitting .257 in 52 games at Triple-A and could offer modest counting stats while playing four or five days per week.

GM Ruben Amaro Jr. said Friday that Brown is not ready to be back in the majors yet, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Brown is hitting .250/.301/.311 with no home runs and 10 stolen bases in 180 at-bats for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The Phillies surely want to see Brown start driving the ball out of the park, but thus far his power has been absent.

Brown is batting .244 with no home runs in 179 plate appearances at Triple-A Lehigh Valley this season. Few players in the league have seen their stock fall as far as Brown in the last two years, despite the fact that the outfielder theoretically remains in his prime at 27 years old. After an All-Star 2013 campaign that included 27 homers and 83 RBI, Brown's power has all but dissipated ever since, with seemingly no obvious explanation. The Phillies are in dire need of outfield help, but at this point, Brown doesn't look as though he would be a better alternative than the meager likes of Cody Asche and Jeff Francoeur.

Manager Ryne Sandberg said it will be an organizational decision on when Brown rejoins the Phillies, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Brown played his 23rd game for Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday since being optioned there on April 28. He is hitting .312 since then, but has yet to homer.

GM Ruben Amaro Jr. said Brown is improving at Triple-A, but is not ready to be back in the majors yet, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Brown has hit .268 (11-for-41) with no home runs and four stolen bases since May 1. He may not be an everyday player when he returns to the majors as the Phillies are shifting Cody Asche to left field which, barring a trade, will mean more playing time for Ben Revere in right field.

Brown went 1-for-4 with a stolen base Sunday for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Brown has gone 5-for-20 with three RBI and three stolen bases in five games since he was sent to the minors. The Phillies have gotten little from their right fielders, so expect Brown to be recalled as soon as he starts hitting the ball more consistently.

Manager Ryne Sandberg said the team has "no timetable" for Brown's return to the big league club, Ryan Lawrence of the Philadelphia Daily News reports. Brown, who was activated from the disabled list and assigned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday, struggled mightily during his Triple-A rehab assignment, hitting just .139 in 36 at-bats. The Phillies were not satisfied with his output, and he'll remain with the IronPigs until "he shows he's ready to make an impact for us," per Sandberg.

Brown (Achilles) was reinstated from the disabled list and optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday, The Morning Call's Stephen Gross reports. Brown has struggled during his rehab assignment with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, managing just four singles and a double through 36 at-bats (.139 batting average), albeit with only six strikeouts. While the Phillies apparently feel that he's not quite ready to face big-league pitching, Brown should still eventually get a shot at an everyday role in the majors, as the team has little hope of contending this season.

Brown (achilles) may be activated off the disabled list and optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. Brown's progression is coming along more slowly than anticipated, and the club may elect to take that route with him if they feel he's not yet ready to face major league pitching. He's expected to max out his rehab eligibility, at which point the club will have to decide what to do with Brown.

Brown (Achilles) said he expects to play his final rehab game with Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Sunday or Monday, the Easton Express-Times reports. Brown, who received a day off Friday, has hit just .195 (8-for-41) with a home run and a stolen base on his rehab assignment. He should see fairly regular playing time in right field for the Phillies when he comes off the disabled list.
