Headley (back) is out of the lineup again Friday, MLB.com's Bryan Hoch reports.
EDGE Analysis
Due to back spasms, Headley sat out Thursday and was unavailable to come off the bench during the team's series finale against Los Angeles. With Ronald Torreyes proving to be a decent fill-in at third base, Headley will get another day off as he takes a seat on the pine for the second straight game. He should be considered day-to-day moving forward unless the injury becomes more serious.

Headley was not available off the bench Thursday due to back spasms, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
It was initially thought that the Yankees were merely giving the veteran the day off Thursday, but now it is being reported that Headley is battling some back issues. Hoch adds that the Yankees are unsure whether Headley will be ready to return in time for Friday's series opener against the Rangers, but more information on the situation should be made available during the day. Ronald Torreyes, who started at third base Thursday, would be the likeliest candidate to fill in for Headley should he sit out again.

Headley is not in Thursday's lineup against the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Headley will get a day off for the first time since June 11. In his place, Ronald Torreyes is manning the hot corner while batting ninth in the order. Headley should be back in the lineup for Friday's series opener with the Rangers.

Headley is out of the lineup Sunday against the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
Near the end of May, it appeared as though Headley's grip on the starting role at third base might be loosening after an extended skid, but the veteran seems to have rebuilt some job security. Headley has started each of the Yankees' last 12 games, and though he's only produced four runs and four RBI in that span, he's turned in a .360 on-base percentage. It's likely that Headley is just sitting out the series finale for rest-related reasons, allowing Ronald Torreyes to pick up a start at the hot corner.

Headley is back in the lineup Monday against the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
Headley has missed back-to-back games for what appears to be performance-related reasons, but will man the hot corner and bat eighth in the order for the Memorial Day showdown against Baltimore. He remains in search of his first homer in May, as his last four-bagger came all the way back on April 19.

Headley is out of the lineup Sunday against the Athletics.
EDGE Analysis
Headley will hit the bench for the second day in a row, perhaps signaling that manager Joe Girardi could be preparing to move forward with Ronald Torreyes as the team's primary third baseman. After carrying a 1.146 OPS through the Yankees' first 12 games of the season, Headley has delivered a .494 OPS over his subsequent 31 contests, striking out in 29.6 percent of his plate appearances during that span.

Headley is out of the lineup Saturday against the A's, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
After getting off to a hot start to the season, by his standards, Headley has hit .105 with zero walks and 21 strikeouts over his last 57 at-bats. Ronald Torreyes will start at third base and hit ninth. Top prospect Gleyber Torres could be summoned in June or July to take over the everyday duties at the hot corner.

Headley went 1-for-4 with three RBI in Saturday's loss to the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
It's been a tough stretch for Headley, who's hitting just .172 in May to drop his average from .301 to .248. He's continuing to drive in runs though and find other ways to contribute, as the third baseman already has 20 RBI and five stolen bases after tallying 51 and eight in those departments a year ago. Still, after his hot start, it appears Headley has cooled off to the point that he won't be on the radar of most owners in standard formats.

Headley is not in the lineup Friday against the Rays, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Headley is 9-for-54 (.167) over the past 14 games, so he'll get a day off to straighten things out. Ronald Torreyes will man the hot corner in his place Friday.

Headley is not in the lineup for the second game of Sunday's doubleheader against Houston.
EDGE Analysis
Headley was 1-for-4 with a triple, three RBI, and run scored during New York's Game 1 victory. He'll sit out the second game while Ronald Torreyes heads out to the hot corner and hits ninth.
