Navarro was released by the Indians on Thursday, Kegan Lowe of Baseball America reports.
EDGE Analysis
Navarro struggled at Triple-A Columbus in 2019, slashing .211/.339/.274 with one home run and 11 RBI over 30 games. The 35-year-old backstop figures to have limited interest on the open market after getting cut loose.

Navarro signed a minor-league contract with the Indians on Thursday that includes an invitation to spring training, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Navarro hasn't appeared in the majors since 2016, but he spent 20 games with the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League in 2018, slashing .268/.299/.437 with three home runs and 13 RBI. The Indians don't exactly have amazing options at catcher, so the 34-year-old backstop will likely be in the thick of the competition for a spot on the active roster. Roberto Perez, Kevin Plawecki and Eric Haase are among the others battling for playing time behind the dish this spring.

Navarro agreed to a contract Sunday with the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Navarro has been out of baseball since the end of the 2016 season, with the 34-year-old catching taking the last year and a half off to tend to his wife, Sherley, who has dealt with significant health issues. With Sherley's condition stabilizing in recent months, Navarro has elected to revive his career and is expected to begin appearing in games for Long Island by the end of the month. The switch-hitting Navarro slashed .207/.265/.322 in his last full season in the big leagues and will face a difficult road back to the majors now that he's two years older.

Navarro is just 3-for-26 (.115) with three walks and six strikeouts in September.
EDGE Analysis
Over the weekend, Navarro made his first three plate appearances in more than a week. Upon his arrival from the White Sox in late August, there were high hopes that Navarro would make an impact as the backup to Russell Martin, but that has not been the case. Even in the unlikely event that he gets another start, the 32-year-old carries little to no fantasy value.

Navarro has appeared in six of the team's nine September games, and is just 1-for-14 (0.71) during the month.
EDGE Analysis
Navarro has failed to capitalize on his chances to make an impact early in the final month. With three catchers on the roster, and Russell Martin the clear top option, Navarro is unlikely to see much more of an opportunity than he's already been afforded.

Navarro went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and a run scored while designated hitting in his Toronto debut Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Navarro is expected to spell veteran starter Russell Martin only occasionally, but he made the most of the start Wednesday. While hitting in the Blue Jays lineup means more offense in front of and behind Navarro when he does play, he's hitting just .215 with six home runs on the year, and likely won't get enough playing time to make much of a fantasy contribution unless something happens to Russell Martin.

Navarro will be the primary catcher on days Marco Estrada starts on the hill, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Last season, when Navarro started 34 games behind the plate, he served as Estrada's personal catcher. He'll once again assume that role now that he's returned to the team. "Hell get playing time," manager John Gibbons said. "[Russell Martin] is our guy, but he'll be able to spell Russ here or there. ...He'll catch Marco some. We'll see how that develops some." Navarro has struggled at the plate this season, hitting .210 with six homers and 32 RBI over 85 games for the White Sox.

Navarro is expected to join the Blue Jays on Monday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of SportsNet reports.
EDGE Analysis
Navarro was dealt to the Blue Jays on Friday, coming over from the White Sox in exchange for Colton Turner. Upon joining the big league club, Navarro is expected to serve as the top backup to Russell Martin, likely seeing most of his time against left-handers.

Navarro was traded to the Blue Jays on Friday in exchange for Colton Turner.
EDGE Analysis
Navarro will return to the Blue Jays' organization, with whom he spent the 2014-15 seasons, after a disappointing run with the White Sox (.210/.267/.339). A .266/.330/.436 career hitter against left-handed pitching, he figures to play primarily against southpaws while serving as the top backup to Russell Martin.
