The Nationals released Worley on Wednesday, Jamal Collier of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Worley, a non-roster invitee, was in the hunt for a long-relief role with the Nationals, but it looks like Jeremy Guthrie, who remains in camp, will assume that role if Washington elects to keep a long man. The 29-year-old Worley hurt his chances by coughing up nine runs on 16 hits in 15 innings during Grapefruit League play, while also turning in a 6:6 K:BB ratio. He could draw interest from other organizations as a swingman, but he'll likely have to settle for a minor-league contract wherever he lands.

Worley signed a minor league contract with the Nationals on Saturday that includes an invitation to spring training, Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
The righty was serviceable for Baltimore last season, posting a 3.53 ERA in 35 appearances (four starts), although also posting a weak 5.8 K/9 in the process. The 29-year-old began his career as a started but has primarily worked out of the bullpen in recent years. If he makes the big league roster, he will likely feature as a long reliever, with potential for some spot-starts.

Worley was not tendered a contract by the Orioles and became a free agent Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Worley was serviceable in his lone season in Baltimore, with a 3.53 ERA in 35 appearances (four starts), but he sported a low 5.8 K/9 and a 4.87 FIP that suggested he benefitted from some good luck. The 29-year-old began his career as a starter but he's been primarily working out of the bullpen the past couple of seasons, so he could attract some interested parties on the open market looking for a swing man or a longer relief option.

Worley threw two shutout innings in relief during Tuesday's loss to the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Worley has made four starts and 23 appearances from the bullpen this season. He pitched in relief of an ineffective Yovani Gallardo, who now has 46 walks in 83.1 innings. Worley has tailed off a bit since drawing a 0.54 ERA for the month of May. Since the All-Star break, Worley has a .160 average against, but he has 10 walks and 11 strikeouts in 23 innings. The Orioles might consider a rotation change, but it is more likely the club is looking for waiver trade candidates before thinking about inserting Worley in the rotation.

Worley will be available out of the Orioles' bullpen Thursday, but he could return to the rotation at some point in the near future, MASN's Roch Kubatko reports.
EDGE Analysis
Worley and Ubaldo Jimenez seem to be competing for starts in the No. 5 spot for the Orioles going forward, and Jimenez has been as bad as any starting pitcher in baseball this year, so Worley should get his chance again. He has a 4.50 ERA as a starter and 2.23 ERA as a reliever, so understandably the Orioles would like to keep him in the bullpen if they can find a way to acquire a more competent fifth starter before the trade deadline.

Worley (2-1) gave up two runs on five hits and three walks over seven innings Sunday, striking out three, but came away with a no-decision in a 5-3 win over the Indians.
EDGE Analysis
He threw 66 of 102 pitches for strikes in his longest outing of the year and while Worley wasn't exactly fooling anybody (generating just five swinging strikes) he was in line for the win before Brad Brach gave up an unearned run in the eighth inning to tie the score 3-3. This performance was probably good enough to keep Worley in the rotation for another turn, but if so he'll face a stiff test Friday in Toronto.

Worley (2-1) lasted just 4.1 innings Tuesday against the Yankees, surrendering three runs on three hits and four walks while taking the loss.
EDGE Analysis
The start was just Worley's third of the season, and doesn't exactly give the Orioles many reasons to give him another. While pitching pretty effectively as a long reliever this season, Worley needed a season-high 88 pitches to get through 4.1 innings, and raised his ERA to 3.16. While the Orioles offense typically provides plenty of run support, Worley won't be of much fantasy help in many leagues unless he can continue to earn starts and pitch better in them that he did Tuesday.

Worley was named Tuesday's starter by the Orioles, MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Worley has been stuck in mop-up mode this season for the Orioles, making just two starts in 20 appearances to this point. He threw 16 pitches in 1.2 innings Sunday, so he will make the start on short rest. Worley's will enter Tuesday's start with a FIP of 3.90, more than a run higher than his actual ERA and much more indicative of his 1.36 WHIP and tendency to pitch to contact.

Worley (groin) was activated from the DL on Thursday, the Baltimore Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Worley will rejoin the O's ahead of their series opener in Seattle after spending just over the minimum 15 days on the disabled list. He has posted a 1.80 ERA in 30 innings as a reliever this season (compared to a 5.06 ERA in two starts) and will likely continue in a long-relief role for the time being.

Worley (groin) should be activated in time for Thursday's game, MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
With the Orioles beginning a road trip with a four game series against the Mariners, the timing was right to activate Worley. After allowing five hits in 1.2 innings in his first rehab start, Worley tossed three perfect innings Tuesday. He should return to a long relief role, though starting is not out of the question if there is a need in the rotation.
