The 30-year-old had already been treading on thin ice in the Marlins' rotation and Tuesday's performance was apparently enough to earn him a demotion to the minor leagues. He'll look to straighten things out in New Orleans with his sights set on rejoining the big-league club for the stretch run of summer.

Koehler allowed four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five batters over 5.1 innings during Wednesday's loss to St. Louis. He did not factor into the decision.

EDGE Analysis

The righty has allowed at least three runs in each of his past six starts, so Wednesday's outing was just more of the same from Koehler. However, it's worth noting that he didn't allow a home run for the first time all season, and the long ball has been a problem with Koehler's 2.29 HR/9 ranking third worst in the league among qualified starters. A start against the Astros is up next for Koehler.

Koehler (1-1) gave up three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out three over five innings and came away with a no-decision in Friday's loss to the Mets.
