Taylor Teagarden (back) is a week or two away from beginning a "spring training-like" regimen. In other words, his return isn't imminent. Teagarden has been on the disabled list all season with a lower back injury.

Taylor Teagarden (back) is ready to resume hitting at extended spring training. Teagarden recently resumed baseball activities and appears to finally be getting past the lower back issue which has caused him to miss the early part of the season. However, there's no clear timetable for him to begin a rehab assignment.

Taylor Teagarden (back) has received clearance to begin baseball-related activities. Good news, as Teagarden has been on the disabled list all season with a lower back injury. However, he's likely a while away from joining the Orioles, let alone playing in a rehab game.

Taylor Teagarden (back) will see Dr. Andrew Dossett in Dallas for a second time before continuing his rehab at the Orioles' complex in Sarasota, Florida. Teagarden visited Dossett last week, who confirmed the initial diagnosis of his lower back injury. The 28-year-old has already received three epidural injections and his return is not considered imminent.

Taylor Teagarden will get a second opinion on his back injury from back specialist Dr. Andrew Dossett in Dallas. Teagarden hasn't played at all this season due to a slight ligament tear in his lower back. His condition has improved somewhat since receiving three epidural injections, but there's no timetable for his return.

Taylor Teagarden will receive his third epidural injection in his back on Monday. Teagarden could be facing surgery if the painkilling shot doesn't relive the discomfort, as a fourth epidural injection is not allowed. He doesn't appear close to coming off the disabled list, so Ronny Paulino will continue to function as Matt Wieters' backup.

Taylor Teagarden is getting a third epidural in his back. It's the final pain-killing injection that he's allowed to have. Teagarden has been on the disabled list since the start of the regular season because of a back strain and doesn't appear anywhere close to being activated.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Monday that while Taylor Teagarden's back is "better than it was," he hasn't made "real fast progress." Teagarden received a second epidural is his strained back last week to help speed up his rehab process, but he won't be ready to return when eligible Tuesday. With Ronny Paulino currently in place as Matt Wieters' primary backup, the O's can afford to give him some extra time.

Taylor Teagarden (back) will begin the season on the disabled list. He'll receive a second epidural for his back on Wednesday. The DL move will be backdated, and the good news is that the O's think he could be ready on April 10 when he's first eligible. Ronny Paulino will back up Matt Wieters to start the season.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Wednesday that Taylor Teagarden has slight tear in a ligament that supports a disk in his back. Showalter said it sounds worse than it really is, but the injury could prevent him from being ready for Opening Day. The 28-year-old is scheduled to receive an epidural on Wednesday and will be shut down for another week. Ronny Paulino and John Hester, both non-roster players, are the favorites to fill in as the O's backup catcher if Teagarden starts the season on the disabled list.
