Skip Schumaker (wrist) failed to reach base as a pinch-hitter in Sunday's loss to the Phillies. Schumaker hasn't started a game in close to a week because of a sore left wrist. Daniel Descalso has been serving as the Cardinals' primary second baseman.

Cardinals activated 2B/OF Skip Schumaker from the 15-day disabled list. Schumaker will be in uniform and ready to go for Friday's game against the Tigers. He'll return to a .321/.378/.432 line, and will likely split time between second base and center field for the Cardinals.

Skip Schumaker (hamstring) will be activated in time for Tuesday's game in Detroit, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. He has been sidelined since the end of May with a right hamstring strain. The 32-year-old utilityman was batting .321/.378/.432 with 12 RBI in 29 games before sustaining the injury. Schumaker should see enough playing time to be an asset once again in NL-only leagues.

Cardinals placed 2B-OF Skip Schumaker on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 31, with a right hamstring strain. He has a Grade 1 strain, so it's possible he'll be ready to return by mid-June when he's first eligible. Shane Robinson and Adron Chambers will be the Cardinals' primary center fielders while Schumaker and Jon Jay (shoulder) are out, while Tyler Greene will continue to see the bulk of time at second base.

Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Skip Schumaker will be placed on the disabled list prior to Friday's game with a Grade 1 right hamstring strain. It's the least severe of the three possible strains, so Schumaker shouldn't be out too terribly long. Shane Robinson and Adron Chambers will be the Cardinals' primary center fielders while Schumaker and Jon Jay (shoulder) are out, while Tyler Greene will continue to see the bulk of time at second base.

Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports that Skip Schumaker (hamstring) "did not sound optimistic" after Wednesday's game about avoiding the disabled list. It's not clear when Schumaker injured himself, but clearly it's more than just a minor tweak. The Cardinals are really being tested by injuries, but they'll at least get Allen Craig (hamstring) back Friday. He seems likely to take Schumaker's spot on the roster.
