Skip Schumaker left Wednesday's game with right hamstring tightness. Yet another injury for the Cardinals. We'll assume that he's day-to-day until further notice, but it seems doubtful that he'll be ready to play Friday after Thursday's off day.

Skip Schumaker is starting in center field Monday. Schumaker got the wind knocked out of him in his first game back Friday when he ran into the wall, but he had a pinch-hit single Sunday and is now ready to return to the field. He could handle center for the next few days until Jon Jay (shoulder) is ready.

Updating a previous item, Skip Schumaker had the wind knocked out of him after crashing into the center field wall Friday. In other words, nothing serious. Schumaker made a leaping attempt on Alex Presley's fly ball and collided with the wall. Manager Mike Matheny made the decision to remove him from the game for precautionary reasons. This is good news for Schumaker, and he should be available for the rest of the series against the Pirates.

Skip Schumaker left Friday's game in the first inning with an apparent arm injury after running into the center field fence. Tough break for Schumaker, who had just been activated from the DL before the game. We'll pass along an update on his status as soon as more information becomes available.

Skip Schumaker is starting in center field in place of Jon Jay (shoulder) Friday. There had been some confusion about whether it would be Schumaker or Shane Robinson getting the call, but it appears as though Cardinals manager Mike Matheny has settled on Schumaker, who was just activated from the DL. Jay's shoulder injury appears to be improving, leading to optimism that he won't need a DL stint.

Cardinals activated 2B/OF Skip Schumaker from the 15-day disabled list. Schumaker originally was expected to stay on his rehab assignment through the weekend, but injuries to Lance Berkman and Jon Jay sped up his timetable. He should see plenty of playing time in center field while Jay is out and will also be used at second base some.

Skip Schumaker (oblique) went 2-for-4 Wednesday in a minor league rehab game at Triple-A Memphis. The Cardinals were planning to leave Schumaker at the Triple-A level until early next week to be sure that he's sufficiently tuned up for major league action. But Lance Berkman could be headed to the 15-day disabled list with a calf strain, opening a spot on the Cardinals' 25-man roster. Schumaker has already played in a handful of rehab games and might just be rushed back.

Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak is hopeful Skip Schumaker (oblique) will be ready to return early next week. Not surprising, as Schumaker has already played in a couple rehab games at Triple-A Memphis without having a setback. He'll return to a utility role, playing some second base and all three outfield positions. Shane Robinson seems most likely to be optioned to make room for Schumaker.

Skip Schumaker (oblique) was hitless in two at-bats Sunday in his first rehab game. Schumaker is likely to spend the next several days at Triple-A Memphis before rejoining the Cardinals this weekend. He'll slide into a utility role, seeing action at second base and at the corner outfield spots.
