Skip Schumaker has been diagnosed with a dislocated shoulder and is expected to miss at least one month of action. Schumaker sustained the injury diving for a ball in the outfield during Friday's Cactus League contest. He was expected to begin the season in a utility role for the Reds, a role which could now go to Ramon Santiago or Chris Nelson.

Skip Schumaker left Friday's Cactus League game against the Royals with an apparent arm injury. Schumaker landed awkwardly while diving to catch a ball in the outfield and came up grabbing his left arm. He was able to walk off the field under his own power, but will presumably head for X-rays to rule out any serious injuries. The team should have an update on his status shortly.

Reds signed UTIL Skip Schumaker to a two-year, $5 million contract. Schumaker batted just .263 with a .665 OPS in 356 plate appearances this past summer for the Dodgers. The 33-year-old will be an overpaid utilityman in Cincinnati, backing up second base and all three outfield spots.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that Skip Schumaker's two-year deal with the Reds is worth $5 million. That's a nice chunk of change for someone who owns an underwhelming .678 OPS over the past four seasons. Still, the Reds view the 33-year-old as insurance for center field and second base.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Reds and Skip Schumaker have agreed to a two-year deal, pending a physical. No word yet on the exact terms involved. Schumaker, who turns 34 in February, batted .263/.332/.332 with two homers and 30 RBI over 125 games this season while making starts between second base and all three outfield positions. The Reds will likely use him in a similar super-sub role.

Skip Schumaker replaced Andre Ethier in Los Angeles' Game 2 of the NLCS lineup Saturday against the Cardinals. Ethier returned to the Dodgers' lineup for Friday's loss, going 1-for-5 with a walk. Ethier is still dealing with some pain above his left ankle, so he and Schumaker figure to platoon in center field as long as Los Angeles remains alive.

Skip Schumaker went 1-for-4 and plated the Dodgers lone run in Sunday's loss to the Rockies. The 33-year-old utility man wraps up his first season with the Dodgers by hitting .263/.332/.332 with two homers, 31 runs and 30 RBI in 319 at-bats. With the recent injuries in the Dodgers outfield, it's looking increasingly likely that Schumaker will open the playoffs as their starter in center field.

Skip Schumaker had a two-run homer and a double Saturday against the Reds. Schumaker has two homers in four games after going his first 78 games of the season without one. He also hit just one in 107 games for the Cardinals last year.

Skip Schumaker's first homer of the season was a three-run shot off All-Star Steve Delabar on Monday. As if Schumaker's blast to the second deck wasn't unlikely enough, Delabar had allowed just one homer this year. Schumaker did hit eight homers back in 2008, but he had hit a total of three in 834 at-bats since the beginning of the 2011 season.
