Skip Schumaker (concussion) is expected to be activated immediately after the All-Star break. He probably only needed a day or two after banging into the wall while trying to make a catch Thursday, but with the All-Star break coming up it made sense to go ahead and DL him. Schumaker will receive plenty of playing time at second base while Brandon Phillips (thumb) is out. "I needed at least a day," Schumaker said. "With the All-Star break coming up, seven days is actually three, which is kind of nice. With a limited bench, it wasn't real fair for me to take a day when we only have two guys (on the bench). We didn't need (pitcher) Manny Parra coming up in a big spot to hit."

Reds placed INF/OF Skip Schumaker on the 7-day concussion disabled list. Schumaker sustained the injury during Thursday's game. He had been seeing the bulk of the playing time at second base in Brandon Phillips' absence, but will now have to wait until after the All-Star break to get back on the field.

Skip Schumaker went 3-for-4 with an RBI double and a stolen base Friday against the Brewers. The three hits were a season-high. Reds manager Bryan Price continues to give Schumaker occasional starts in left field, but the 34-year-old hasn't done much with the opportunity. Even with his big game on Friday, he's batting just .256/.287/.333 on the year.

Skip Schumaker went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored from the leadoff spot Thursday against the Dodgers. Bryan Price's Schumaker infatuation finally paid off today. The veteran entered the game in an 0-for-13 slump, leaving him at .209/.253/.279 in 86 at-bats since coming off the DL on May 3. In spite of his struggles, Schumaker has 25 at-bats this month, compared to 20 for Ryan Ludwick, 11 for Chris Heisey and six for Roger Bernadina. All four are fighting for time in left field, while some are also getting some at-bats elsewhere.

Reds activated outfielder Skip Schumaker from the 15-day disabled list. Schumaker will take over as the Reds' fifth outfielder and backup second baseman after going 5-for-12 with four doubles on his rehab assignment. He shouldn't be of any use in AL-only leagues unless someone ahead of him gets hurt.

Skip Schumaker (shoulder) will travel to Arizona on Thursday to begin participating in extended spring training games. Schumaker dislocated his left shoulder during an exhibition game on March 21. He's been taking batting practice in recent days, and he's now ready for game action. He'll go from there to a rehab assignment at Triple-A Louisville. He's looking at an early- to mid-May return.

Skip Schumaker (shoulder) is nearing a rehab assignment. Schumaker took batting practice on the field Friday for the first time since dislocating his left shoulder. The one hurdle he has yet to clear is trying out some diving, though he thinks it "might be more mental than physical." Schumaker seems likely to return at the beginning of next month.

Skip Schumaker (shoulder) did some throwing and hit off of a tee Monday. Schumaker is no longer feeling any soreness in his left shoulder. "We're optimistic that, in relatively short order, he'll be able to get into game action," Reds manager Bryan Price said. It sounds like he could be back before the end of the month.

Reds placed INF/OF Skip Schumaker on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 22, with a dislocated left shoulder. Schumaker suffered the injury just over a week ago when he dove for a ball in the outfield. He's expected to miss at least one month of action.
