Flaherty has officially retired as a professional baseball player and will now be brought in to the Padres organization as a quality control coach, Andersen Pickard of MLBDailyDish.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Flaherty was hired by the Padres on Sunday as the ballclub's new quality control coach which ultimately put an end to his 11-year MLB career. Although drafted by the Cubs in 2008, Flaherty was known for his time with the Orioles with who he spent six seasons with. The 33-year-old wrapped up his career with a .215/.284/.345 slash line while hitting 37 long balls over 1,474 plate appearances and will now bring his experience over to a young and talented Padres team that is looking to take a major step forward in 2020.

Flaherty had his contract selected by the Indians on Sunday, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Flaherty signed a minor-league deal with the club March 31 and has spent the entire season with Triple-A Columbus. He's managed a .263/.365/.466 line in 113 games but, perhaps more importantly, has spent significant time at every infield position besides catcher. As a result, he'll serve as depth across the diamond for the big-league club to close the season.

Flaherty signed a minor-league contract with the Indians on Sunday.

Flaherty spent the spring with Cleveland but opted out on March 20 after failing to make the team. He'll return to the Indians' Triple-A club, Columbus, after failing to find a better opportunity elsewhere.

Flaherty opted out of his contract Wednesday, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
After being informed he wouldn't break camp with the Indians, Flaherty decided to exercise his opt-out and hit the open market in search of another big-league opportunity. The utility man hit .243/.333/.459 with two homers, eight RBI and a 5:7 BB:K through 17 spring games.

Flaherty agreed to a minor-league contract with the Indians on Thursday that includes an invitation to spring training, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran utility man spent 2018 with the Braves' organization, slashing .217/.298/.292 with two home runs, 13 RBI and four stolen bases. Flaherty also has major-league experience at each defensive position beside pitcher, catcher and center field, which puts him in the thick of the competition for a reserve role with Cleveland if he can perform well in spring training.

The Braves selected Flaherty's contract from Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Flaherty looked like he wouldn't be in line to join the Braves in September after being designated for assignment last month, but a spot with the big club opened up for him after outfielder Michael Reed (back) was placed on the 60-day disabled list. The 32-year-old will give the Braves a depth option that can be plugged in all over the infield, but he won't be in store for frequent at-bats unless the team loses multiple key regulars to injury.

Flaherty cleared waivers and was sent to Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday, David O'Brien of The Athletic Atlanta reports.
EDGE Analysis
Flaherty hit just .222/.298/.301 across 76 games with the Braves before being designated for assignment earlier in the week. The 32-year-old will serve as organizational infield depth for Atlanta after passing through waivers unclaimed.

Flaherty was designated for assignment prior to Monday's game against Pittsburgh.
EDGE Analysis
Flaherty was cast off the 40-man roster in order to make room for Bryse Wilson, who was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett ahead of Monday's start. Dating back to the beginning of June, Flaherty has gone just 3-for-40 while serving in a minimized role. He will now take a spin through waivers to determine where he'll end up next.

Flaherty went 0-for-1 as a pinch hitter in Sunday's loss to the Brewers.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran utility man hasn't started a game since June 23, and Flaherty's primary use to the Braves these days is as a bat off the bench. The emergence of Johan Camargo as the starting third baseman, as well as Charlie Culberson's solid numbers in left field, have cut off Flaherty's avenues to even semi-consistent playing time, and his .250/.331/.338 slash line on the season doesn't make a strong case to change that.

Flaherty is out of the lineup Sunday against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
As of mid-May, Flaherty had been seeing regular action at third base as part of a platoon with Jose Bautista, but the recent return of Dansby Swanson from the disabled list has allowed Johan Camargo to shift over to the hot corner on an everyday basis. Bautista has since been released, so Flaherty appears poised to serve as the Braves' top utility man, a role that will probably only afford him a start or two per week.
