Red Sox signed RHP Ryan Dempster to a two-year, $26.5 million contract. Dempster turned down multiple two-year offers this offseason before ultimately signing with the Red Sox. While his level of play declined during the second half of 2012, he should add some stability to Boston's starting rotation. The 35-year-old right-hander posted a solid 3.38 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 153/52 K/BB ratio across 173 innings this past season between Chicago and Texas, but is likely due for a regression pitching in the AL East.

The Red Sox have signed Ryan Dempster to a two-year, $26.5 million deal, reports FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal. It's only pending a physical, which Dempster should easily pass. The 35-year-old right-hander also drew interest this offseason from the Brewers, Diamondbacks, Twins and others, but Boston seemed to take the lead pretty early on. Dempster posted a 3.38 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 153/52 K/BB ratio in 173 innings this summer between the Cubs and Rangers. He's at the tail end of his career but should do fine over the course of this new two-year deal.

Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that the Red Sox are close to an agreement with Ryan Dempster. Dempster has turned down multiple two-year offers this winter in search of something a little longer and may have finally found it in his negotiations with Boston. The 35-year-old right-hander posted a 3.38 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 153/52 K/BB ratio in 173 innings this past season between Chicago and Texas. He'd bring some reliability to an iffy Red Sox rotation.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Red Sox are in "serious discussions" with free agent right-hander Ryan Dempster. While the two sides are negotiating, Rosenthal hears that there's no deal yet and that it's possible Dempster could sign elsewhere. Last we heard, the veteran right-hander had declined a two-year, $25 million offer from the club and was holding out for three years. It's not clear whether either side has budged. Per Sean McAdam of CSNNewEngland.com, the Red Sox are also looking at Anibal Sanchez, Kyle Lohse, Francisco Liriano and Shaun Marcum.

According to Gordon Edes of ESPN Boston, free agent Ryan Dempster turned down a two-year, $25 million offer from the Red Sox. It's a similar offer to the rumored two-year, $26 million deal that he turned down from the Royals. Dempster is seeking a three-year deal with an average annual salary of at least $13 million. The Brewers, Royals and Cubs are all believed to be interested.

Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times says that reports of talks between the Cubs and Ryan Dempster "grossly misrepresents their nature" and negotiations are "not happening." He goes on to say that a reunion is "implausible," while finishing out his tweet with a #courtesy hashtag. In other words, it appears that a report from Bruce Levine of ESPN Chicago doesn't need to be taken too seriously. Dempster is on the lookout for a three-year deal, with the Brewers, Royals and Red Sox showing interest.

Bruce Levine of ESPNChicago.com reports that the Cubs have had discussions with Ryan Dempster's agent. While a formal offer hasn't been made, Levine says the two sides have discussed money and length of a contract. He also notes that Dempster has offers on the table from other clubs for two and three years. While the Cubs almost surely won't give Dempster three years, it's possible he could wind up going back to where he's most comfortable if he doesn't find the deal he likes. Levine says a potential "sticking point" for a return would be Dempster's likely request of a no-trade clause, something the Cubs probably won't want to give him.

Jim Bowden of ESPN.com hears that the Royals could be willing to offer Ryan Dempster a three-year, $39 million deal. Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star reported last week that they had offered Dempster a two-year, $26 million deal but dropped out when the bidding got too high. However, Bowden thinks they could relent and give the veteran righty a third year if it gets the deal done. The Brewers and Red Sox are also interested in Dempster.

According to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that the Brewers aren't willing to go beyond two years with free agent right-hander Ryan Dempster. Dempster is seeking three years and the Brewers will be out of the picture if someone is willing to go there. FOX Sports' Jon Paul Morosi reported late Tuesday night that the veteran right-hander is seeking an annual salary close to the $13 million Dan Haren landed with the Nationals. The Red Sox are believed to be in the mix.

Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that Ryan Dempster is currently asking for "around Dan Haren money." That would be $13 million per season, though Dempster doesn't have health concerns and, thus, is looking for a three-year deal. The Brewers would love to sign him, but he's probably going to have to drop his asking price a bit for that to happen. The Red Sox also remain interest in the veteran right-hander, while the Angels are no longer players.
