Ryan Dempster struck out eight while allowing four runs -- two earned -- over seven-plus innings, but he took the loss to the Twins on Tuesday. Dempster actually lowered his ERA to 2.93 in the loss, so it's not as though he got shelled in the outing. Unfortunately his offense didn't give him much support, so the right-hander was denied a win for his efforts. Dempster has been a surprise for fantasy owners this year, and he'll get another shot at picking up a victory Sunday against the Blue Jays.

Ryan Dempster yielded one run in six innings Thursday in Boston's 3-1 defeat of Toronto. It was Dempster's first ever start in Toronto, though the native of British Columbia did pitch in Montreal several times. He was greeted rudely, with Brett Lawrie hitting a leadoff homer in the first, but he stifled the Jays the rest of the way to even his record at 2-2. He has a 3.00 ERA in six starts.

Ryan Dempster matched a season-high with 10 strikeouts Friday while allowing two runs in six innings in a 7-3 win over the Astros. It was his first win of the season. Dempster walked three and held the Astros to just four hits. The runs scored on an RBI ground out and a sacrifice fly. Perhaps spending his first full season in the American League will catch up to him eventually, but it hasn't mattered so far. With 43 strikeouts in 30 innings, only Yu Darvish (49) has fanned more batters. He'll carry a 3.30 ERA into a start against the Blue Jays next week.

Ryan Dempster struck out eight but fell to 0-2 Sunday when he allowed four runs over seven frames against the Royals. Dempster gave up six hits, including an Alcides Escobar home run, and walked three. Despite not having a win to show for it, the veteran right-hander has been quite good this season, striking out 33 over 24 innings while putting up a 3.38 ERA and 1.12 WHIP. He has a good shot to get in the win column next weekend against the Astros.

Ryan Dempster tossed seven innings of one-run ball Monday as the Red Sox defeated the visiting Rays. Dempster was locked in and facing a slumping Rays lineup on Patriots' Day at Fenway Park. He finished with 10 strikeouts, allowing only two hits and two walks to the 24 batters he faced. The veteran right-hander has a 2.65 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 25/8 K/BB ratio over 17 innings this season. He will get the Royals next.

Ryan Dempster allowed three runs -- one earned -- in five innings but the Red Sox lost to the Orioles on Wednesday. The numbers look nice, but Dempster was inefficient in lasting only five innings for the Sox. He's now struck out 15 batters in 10 innings, a nice surprise for owners of the 35-year-old. He'll next start Monday against the Rays, another lineup against which he could find some success.

Ryan Dempster took a loss in his Red Sox debut after giving up three runs in five innings Thursday against the Yankees. Dempster struck out eight, but three hits amounted to two runs in the second and Brett Gardner added a solo homer in the third. These kinds of outings should be the norm for Dempster. He won't be bad, but he probably won't help fantasy teams in ERA and WHIP.

Ryan Dempster struggled in Friday's loss to the Twins, surrendering two runs on five hits over 3 2/3 innings. On the bright side, he did display good command on the evening, issuing zero free passes while fanning two. He's yet to walk a batter in 8 2/3 innings this spring, and his velocity has been right around his career norm. His struggles as a member of the Rangers in 2012 could depress his value in fantasy drafts, making Dempster a nice potential value in the middle rounds.

Ryan Dempster pitched three scoreless innings, striking out two, against the Yankees on Sunday. Dempster decided to settle in for the Red Sox rather than pitch for Canada in the World Baseball Classic. He's allowed just one hit in five scoreless innings so far this spring.

Ryan Dempster was not listed on Team Canada's provisional WBC roster released on Saturday. This doesn't come as a tremendous surprise, as Dempster indicated last month that he would likely pass on the WBC. It's encouraging to see that his main goal this offseason is to get himself ready to pitch for the Red Sox.
