Ryan Dempster will make his next start next Friday against the White Sox. Dempster is currently serving a five-game suspension for throwing at Alex Rodriguez on Sunday. He'll essentially skip a start, though it isn't much of an inconvenience for the Red Sox, as they have upcoming scheduled off-days on Thursday and Monday.

Ryan Dempster will not appeal his five-game suspension and will begin serving it Tuesday. Dempster, of course, was dealt the suspension for throwing at Alex Rodriguez Monday. The Red Sox will probably use Brandon Workman for a spot start over the weekend before Dempster returns to the rotation early next week.

MLB has suspended Ryan Dempster for five games and fined him an undisclosed amount for intentionally throwing at Alex Rodriguez on Sunday. No word yet on whether he'll appeal. It's worth noting that the Red Sox have upcoming off-days on Thursday and Monday, so they should be able to get by just fine if he begins serving the suspension immediately. In the end, it's not much of a punishment. Yankees manager Joe Girardi was also fined an undisclosed amount for his actions during Sunday's game.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that MLB will announce a decision Tuesday on how Ryan Dempster will be punished for hitting Alex Rodriguez with a pitch Sunday. Dempster claimed after the game that he was just trying to pitch Rodriguez inside, but it was pretty easy to see the intent behind it. He's likely looking at a brief suspension for his actions.

Ryan Dempster allowed one run over seven innings in a no-decision against the Blue Jays on Tuesday. Dempster muddled through two poor starts prior to this one, but the right-hander allowed just four hits and two walks in his seven innings on Tuesday. It was the first time Dempter lasted at least seven innings since June 14. He'll try to keep the train rolling when he faces the Yankees on Sunday.

Ryan Dempster allowed five runs over six innings in a no-decision against the Astros on Wednesday. Dempster was actually able to do some good things on Wednesday, as he struck out seven batters while not issuing a walk. Still, five runs against a bad Astros offense can hardly be considered a success. He didn't factor in the decision, remaining at 6-8 with a 4.67 ERA this season. He'll face the Blue Jays in Toronto on Tuesday.

Ryan Dempster has a 7.20 ERA in 20 innings over his last four starts. He's given up 21 runs -- 16 earned -- on 30 hits and 12 walks in that span. Dempster was tagged for seven runs in six innings by the Mariners on Thursday, including a fifth inning grand slam by .178-hitting backup catcher Henry Blanco. "I've just got to execute better pitches,ƒ?? Dempster said after the game. Currently 6-8 with a 4.54 ERA, Dempster isn't worth using in mixed leagues until he turns it around.

Ryan Dempster was tagged for seven runs in six innings by the Mariners on Thursday. An erratic strike zone from David Rackley played a role in Dempster's struggles; he didn't deserve all five walks he issued. That's not to say he was any good, though. Even his better outings lately have been pretty mediocre; it's been a month and a half since he completed seven innings and three months since he escaped an outing allowing one or no runs. He's currently 6-8 with a 4.54 ERA.

Ryan Dempster allowed two runs over 5 1/3 innings to earn the win against the Orioles on Saturday. Dempster was pitching without his best stuff but pitched around six hits and two walks for the victory. He struck out four on the night, picking up his first win since June 25. Even so, the right-hander is just 6-8 with a 4.24 ERA this year. He'll take the mound again Thursday against the Mariners.

Ryan Dempster lasted just 5 1/3 innings in Sunday night's win over the Yankees. Dempster was originally scheduled to start Monday, but was moved up to start in place of Jon Lester. He allowed three runs on six hits and gave up four walks before being removed in the sixth-inning at 98 pitches. Despite leaving the game with a two-run lead, he was forced to settle for a no-decision. Dempster will make his next start Friday vs. the Orioles.
