According to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com, the Brewers and Red Sox remain interested in Ryan Dempster. Heyman says the Angels have dropped out. He adds that the Brewers are a "logical fit," as Dempster lives nearby in Chicago and wants to go to spring training in Arizona. Brewers general manager Doug Melvin has met with Dempster's representatives at the Winter Meetings.

Ryan Dempster is looking for a three-year deal, reports Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The Brewers are highly interested in working out an agreement with the veteran starter, but they don't want to go beyond two years. Dempster has also drawn interest from the Red Sox, Royals and Angels so far this offseason. He posted a 3.38 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 153/52 K/BB ratio in 173 innings this past summer between the Cubs and Rangers.

FOX Sports' Jon Morosi reports the Diamondbacks and Twins have "checked in" on Ryan Dempster. The market for Dempster has been slow to develop, but that should pick up this week at the Winter Meetings. The Royals recently made a two-year, $26 million offer that was rejected, while the Red Sox and Angels have shown preliminary interest. According to Morosi, the Brewers also "remain in the mix."

Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star reports that the Royals recently made a two-year, $26 million offer to free agent right-hander Ryan Dempster, but dropped out when the bidding got too high. The Royals are talking to multiple teams about a trade for a top starting pitcher, but they also continue to monitor possibilities in free agency. Dempster doesn't figure to come cheap after posting an excellent 3.38 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 153/52 K/BB ratio in 173 innings this past season between the Cubs and Rangers. FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reported Thursday that the Brewers, Red Sox and Angels are in the mix.

According to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal, the Brewers, Red Sox and Angels are interested in Ryan Dempster. The Red Sox and Brewers had already been linked to Dempster this offseason, but the Angels -- who reportedly just bowed out of the Zack Greinke bidding -- are a newcomer. Dempster, 35, posted an excellent 3.38 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 153/52 K/BB ratio in 173 innings this past season between the Cubs and Rangers.

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Brewers are interested in Ryan Dempster. With Shaun Marcum likely to leave as a free agent, the Brews would like to add at least one starter, and Dempster would seem to be a good fit. The veteran right-hander posted a 3.38 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 153/52 K/BB ratio in 173 innings this season for the Cubs and Rangers. The Red Sox, Twins and Cubs are also reportedly interested.

Scott Lauber of the Boston Herald hears that the Red Sox have shown "only preliminary interest" in Ryan Dempster. Lauber notes that they weren't terribly interested in Dempster at the trade deadline, either. The Red Sox will almost surely acquire at least one starter this offseason, but it sounds like Dempster isn't near the top of their wish list.

Darren Wolfson of ESPN 1500 in Minnesota reports that the Twins have "inquired" about Ryan Dempster. The Twins badly need to upgrade their pitching staff this offseason if they want to compete in 2013, and Dempster would certainly be a start. The veteran right-hander posted a 3.38 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 153/52 K/BB ratio in 173 innings this past season between the Cubs and Rangers. He would probably enjoy Target Field.

MLB.com's Carrie Muskat reports that the Cubs have "been in contact" with free agent Ryan Dempster. The Cubs traded Dempster this summer but may want him back for the 2013 campaign if the price is right. The veteran right-hander posted a 3.38 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 153/52 K/BB ratio in 173 innings this season for the Cubs and Rangers. He'll probably be looking for a two- or three-year deal.

Ryan Dempster was charged with five runs in three-plus innings Wednesday in a no-decision against the A's. Dempster was more good than bad in his 12 starts with the Rangers, but the bad outings were enough to leave him with a 5.09 ERA in 69 innings. He could use a strong postseason to redeem himself as he heads into free agency, but there's no guarantee he'll pitch again.
