Belisario was fairly awful with the Rays in 2015, throwing a 7.88 ERA in 8.0 innings and spending most of his time in Triple-A Durham, but he could still be an asset to a Boston bullpen in the bottom 10 of the majors in ERA and second-worst in FIP. He might land in Triple-A to begin, but it's likely he hits the majors before long.

Belisario cleared waivers and elected free agency Saturday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. After he was designated for assignment Tuesday, Belisario has opted to explore his options on the open market. The 32-year-old righty spent much of the season with Triple-A Durham, but in six appearances for the Rays, he struggled mightily to the tune of a 7.88 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, and 6:4 K:BB in eight innings. As a result, he'll likely have to accept a minor league deal.

Belisario was designated for assignment on Tuesday. Belisario had a 9.45 ERA, so when it came time to find a spot on the 40-man roster, it made sense to designate him for assignment. Look for Belisario to clear waivers and report to Triple-A Durham.
