Neshek (2-2) was charged with a blown save and a loss after allowing three runs on three hits in just while recording just two outs Saturday against the Mets. He struck out one.
EDGE Analysis
It was a rare blowup for Neshek, who hadn't allowed a run since May 14 heading into Saturday's contest. The runs snapped an 18-inning scoreless streak for the veteran reliever, who now owns an impressive 1.39 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 31:4 K:BB through 32.1 innings this season.

The Phillies have a standing offer for Neshek from another club, Jim Salisbury of CSN Philadelphia reports.
EDGE Analysis
The trade deadline is still five weeks away, so the Phillies are unlikely to make a move this early. That said, Neshek is certain to be traded next month. He's allowed just two earned runs in 29.2 innings this season and would be a nice addition to any contender in need of bullpen help.

Neshek (2-1) pitched a scoreless eighth inning with a strikeout and was the pitcher of record when Philadelphia scored the winning run during Thursday's victory over Boston.
EDGE Analysis
Locked into a high-leverage role and boasting elite ratios (0.72 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 8.3 K/9), Neshek is moving the fantasy needle. He's collected just the two wins and a single save, but he's now positioned himself to collect checks in each column going forward. Additionally, manager Pete Mackanin discussed utilizing Neshek in a save situation just last week.

Neshek earned his sixth hold of the season with a scoreless seventh inning in Monday's 6-5 loss to the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Neshek was used in the seventh to protect a one-run lead and Joaquin Benoit followed him in the eighth inning. That was the pecking order before Benoit got injured and indicates that manager Pete Mackanin was considering going with Hector Neris in the ninth inning Monday had Benoit been able to hold the lead. Neris hasn't been able to lock down the closing job yet, so Neshek is worth hanging onto if you are hoping for future save chances.

Neshek pitched a scoreless seventh inning with a strikeout during Sunday's loss to St. Louis.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran righty has now strung together 9.1 scoreless innings over 10 appearances with just four hits and a walk allowed. Neshek sports a 0.78 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 8.6 K/9 for the season, and he was recently discussed as the potential new closer for the Phillies by manager Pete Mackanin. Speculatively adding Neshek now could pay off, and especially for those virtual clubs chasing saves.

Manager Pete Mackanin said Neshek would have closed for the Phillies on Wednesday had there been a save opportunity, Jim Salisbury of CSN Philadelphia reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Phillies lost 14-1 to the Braves on Wednesday so there was no save chance available for Neshek. Mackanin said he was going to talk with Hector Neris, who has been the team's primary closer, about "his lack of success lately" and the fact that he has been hanging too many splitters. Neshek is an immediate pickup for those in need of a closer even though the Phillies haven't generated a lot of save opportunities this season.

Neshek picked up a save Tuesday against the Braves after coming on in relief of Hector Neris, who was pulled after allowing two one-out singles in the ninth inning.
EDGE Analysis
Neshek has been excellent this season, with a 0.82 ERA and a 21:4 K:BB in 22 innings. He was recently elevated to an eighth inning role with Joaquin Benoit (knee) on the disabled list. Neris will likely remain the Phillies' primary closer, but Neshek may be worth rostering by those hunting for potential saves. Even if he is able to work his way into more save chances, those opportunities will likely disappear next month as there is a strong possibility Neshek will be traded to a contender by the rebuilding Phillies.

Neshek pitched a scoreless eighth inning to collect his first win of the season during Sunday's victory over San Francisco.
EDGE Analysis
Neshek has been a reliable hurler out of the Philadelphia bullpen with a 0.84 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 8.4 K/9. The 36-year-old righty blew his only save opportunity this season, so his fantasy value is capped in that regard. With Joaquin Benoit (knee) sidelined, however, Neshek should see more high-leverage work for the duration of Benoit's stay on the disabled list.

Neshek pitched a clean inning with three strikeouts in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Neshek worked the eighth inning Saturday after Joaquin Benoit, the typical eighth-inning arm, was placed on the disabled list. Neshek is now 0-1 with a 0.89 ERA and a 20:3 K:BB in 20.1 innings. He'll likely be asked to work in a setup role as long as Benoit is sidelined.

Manager Pete Mackanin said he doesn't plan to move Neshek into a late-inning role, Daniel Shiferaw of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Neshek has yet to allow a run this season and has a 10:3 K:BB in 12.2 innings. The Phillies have yet to find a formula that works to close out games, but at least for now, Neshek is not going to enter the mix for saves. Mackanin said he wants to continue to use the side-armer primarily in the sixth and seventh innings.
