Neshek picked up the save Monday against the Nationals despite a shaky ninth inning in which he allowed a run on two hits, including one homer.
EDGE Analysis
Seranthony Dominguez and David Robertson threw earlier in the game, and Hector Neris had thrown 17 pitches the night before, so manager Gabe Kapler turned to Neshek to face the toughest part of the Nationals' lineup with a two-run lead in the ninth inning. He made things interesting by starting the inning with a Brian Dozier homer and an Anthony Rendon double but eventually shut the door. His usage Tuesday doesn't suggest that he's moved ahead of Dominguez or Robertson in the pecking order, but it does serve as a welcome reminder that Kapler will be creative again this season, so the veteran could certainly stumble into save chances on a semi-regular basis going forward despite not being the team's top option.

Neshek has allowed just one run in 3.1 innings of work this spring, striking out five while walking just one.
EDGE Analysis
Neshek wound up with five saves last season in a bullpen that was in flux throughout the year. The arrival of David Robertson pushes him one spot further from the ninth inning, but he could still wind up with the occasional save if the Phillies stick with unconventional bullpen tactics. He doesn't have a ton of value when not happening to pitch in the ninth, though, as he struck out just 14.9 percent of batters last season and has reached the 60-inning mark just twice in the last 10 years.

Neshek tossed a perfect ninth inning Saturday to pick up his fifth save of the season in a 5-4 win over the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
It was his first save chance since he blew one Aug. 28, but Neshek's five straight scoreless appearances since then were apparently enough to convince manager Gabe Kapler to entrust him with ninth-inning duty once again. With the Phillies fighting desperately to stay in the NL playoff picture, Neshek might see plenty of high-leverage work down the stretch, but Tommy Hunter and a slew of other relievers could still be in the mix for saves.

Neshek threw a perfect ninth inning with one strikeout against the Nationals on Thursday to earn his fourth save of the season.
EDGE Analysis
He sat down Anthony Rendon, Juan Soto and Mark Reynolds in order on 13 pitches to preserve a gem from starter Aaron Nola. It was Neshek's third save since Aug. 7 (six appearances), and with Seranthony Dominguez struggling of late (7.11 ERA, three blown saves in August), Neshek will likely continue to get chances to close out games.

Neshek allowed no runs on one hit across one inning as he collected the save Friday against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Neshek entered the ballgame with a two-run lead, and although he allowed the tying run to come to the plate with one out, he managed to escape with the save. Seranthony Dominguez was unavailable after recording the save Thursday, so Neshek was called upon to handle the ninth inning. He's 3-for-3 on save opportunities in 2018.

Neshek grabbed his second save of the season by pitching a scoreless ninth inning Tuesday against Arizona.
EDGE Analysis
With primary closer Seranthony Dominguez unavailable after pitching on both of the previous two nights, Neshek was called on to shut the door. He got the job done easily, retiring the side in order. It's noteworthy that Neshek got the ninth inning instead of Victor Arano, who threw in the eighth. Arano was brought in to face a tougher part of the order, though, so he may still be manager Gabe Kapler's more trusted reliever. Neshek's ratios (0.73 ERA, 0.89 WHIP) have been so elite, however, that he has some value in deeper leagues even without getting any saves.

Neshek threw yet another scoreless inning Sunday against the Marlins, striking out one and allowing no baserunners.
EDGE Analysis
Neshek didn't debut until July 1 this season after battling multiple arm injuries, but he's been excellent since he returned to action. He's allowed just a single run in 11.1 innings, striking out nine while walking just one. Seranthony Dominguez remains the Phillies' highest-leverage reliever, though manager Gabe Kapler hasn't used him strictly as a traditional closer, so Neshek could certainly get the occasional save opportunity and is well-placed to move into a larger role should anything happen to Dominguez down the stretch.

Neshek tossed a scoreless eighth inning in the second half of Sunday's doubleheader against the Pirates, striking out one.
EDGE Analysis
Neshek missed the first three months of the season with shoulder and forearm injuries. His record since returning from the disabled list July 1 has been spotless, as he's thrown seven scoreless innings with five strikeouts and no walks. The veteran reliever seems to thrive in Philadelphia, having recorded a 1.12 ERA in 40.1 innings for the Phillies last season before being traded to Colorado. Seranthony Dominguez remains the primary option for the ninth inning at Citizens Bank Park, but manager Gabe Kapler likes to play the matchups, so Neshek could certainly wind up with the occasional save chance, and he's positioned himself to be in the closer conversation should anything happen to Dominguez.

Neshek (forearm) was activated from the 10-day DL in advance of Sunday's matchup against the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Neshek was expected back prior to Tuesday, and although the reliever did acknowledge he could have used another rehab outing (per Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer), the team needed him a bit earlier than expected. The bullpen has been particularly taxed of late, as Vince Velasquez (forearm) was an early exit Saturday, and Nick Pivetta was lit up for seven earned runs in Friday's outing. Neshek, who allowed two earned runs across three rehab appearances, is expected to return to his role in middle relief.

Neshek (forearm) will make at most one more rehab appearance and will return Tuesday at the latest, Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic Philadelphia reports.
EDGE Analysis
Neshek hasn't pitched for the Phillies yet this season, first with a shoulder strain and then with a forearm strain suffered while rehabbing. He's finally almost ready to go, and could be activated as soon as Sunday. The Phillies could certainly use him, as they lack reliable healthy relievers outside of rookie Seranthony Dominguez.
