Mark Ellis was diagnosed with a strained right quad. Ellis left Friday's game after pulling up lame while running to first base in the fifth inning. No word yet on the severity, but he's almost certainly headed for an extended absence. The Dodgers have plenty of options to fill in at second base, including Nick Punto, Jerry Hairston, Jr., Juan Uribe, and Skip Schumaker.

Mark Ellis was removed from Friday's game against the Brewers with an injury to his right leg. Ellis pulled up lame while running to first base in the fifth inning. No word yet on the extent of the injury, but the Dodgers should provide an update after the game. Nick Punto replaced him in the Dodgers' lineup and could see an uptick in playing time in the coming days.

Mark Ellis went 4-for-5 with two home runs as the Dodgers topped the Mets 7-2 on Tuesday. Ellis drove in four runs on the day, including himself twice. The homers were his first and second of the year, and he's now hitting .348 on the season. Ellis has primary claim to the Dodgers' second base job and, if he continues to hit in the No. 2 hole, could be a pleasant surprise going forward.

Mark Ellis blasted a solo home run, accounting for the entirety of the Dodgers offense in a losing effort against the Nationals. The solo shot off Ross Detwiler in the fourth inning was his only hit in four trips to the plate on the night. He's had a fairly uninspiring season, hitting just .265/.344/.374 with seven homers and 30 RBI in 377 at-bats.

Dodgers activated 2B Mark Ellis from the disabled list. Ellis wound up missing six weeks with leg and knee issues. The second baseman went 4-for-14 in four rehab games at High-A Rancho Cucamonga, and should be ready to resume playing every day for the Dodgers.

Mark Ellis (leg, knee) could be activated from the disabled list as soon as Wednesday. Ellis had been slated to remain on a rehab assignment for at least a few more days, but he's apparently feeling well enough that the Dodgers could push up his timetable. He's been out since mid-May with an injury to his left leg and knee.

Mark Ellis (leg, knee) could begin a minor league rehab assignment with High-A Rancho Cucamonga on Saturday. He'll get clearance to begin his rehab stint if he is able to run the bases without any issues on Thursday. Ellis expected to play four or five games and get about 20 at-bats, so he could be back before the All-Star break if all goes well.
