Mark Ellis is not in the Dodgers' starting lineup on Saturday night due to lingering groin issues. But the second baseman told reporters on Saturday evening that his groin is beginning to feel a little better. He should be able to avoid the disabled list.

Dodgers activated 2B Mark Ellis from the 15-day disabled list. Ellis had been scheduled to remain on his rehab assignment through the weekend, but the Dodgers decided to bring him back early since Luis Cruz (elbow) is banged up. Mark Ellis (quad) could be activated prior to Sunday's game. He was scheduled to remain on his rehab assignment through the weekend, but Luis Cruz is dealing with an elbow issue, so the Dodgers need some infield depth. Ellis was batting .342/.363/.452 with a pair of homers before landing on the disabled list.

Mark Ellis was removed early from Friday's rehab game as a precautionary measure due to poor field conditions. Ellis was supposed to play four innings and receive two at bats, but a rainy night at Double-A Chattanooga forced him out after only three innings and one at-bat. It's certainly encouraging news to hear that it wasn't an injury related setback that caused the early exit.

Mark Ellis (quad) was scheduled to play four innings and receive two at-bats during his rehab game with Double-A Chattanooga on Friday, but was removed from the game after just three innings and one at-bat. No word yet on the cause for the early exit, but the Dodgers should release an update on his status later in the evening. Perhaps they were just playing it cautiously as they ease Ellis back into action.

Mark Ellis (quad) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Chattanooga on Friday. Ellis tested out his quad by running before Tuesday's game, and it evidently went well. He should be back sometime next week as long as he can avoid a setback.

Mark Ellis (quad) could begin a rehab assignment as soon as this weekend. Ellis still hasn't run at full speed yet, but his strained quad is feeling better. He shouldn't need too many rehab at-bats, so a return sometime next week seems likely if all goes well.
