Mark Ellis (leg, knee) has resumed throwing and hit off a tee Monday. Ellis is currently working his way back from injuries to his left leg and knee. While he's unlikely to return until some point in July, the Dodgers are hopeful he'll begin hitting in batting practice groups by the end of the week.

Mark Ellis will not require additional surgery on his left leg. Ellis had emergency surgery earlier this month to relieve swelling in the leg, but a subsequent MRI revealed some damage to the MCL in his knee. However, the plan is for him to rehab and see how he progresses. The Dodgers are hopeful that he'll be able to return in six weeks.

Mark Ellis (leg) was released from the hospital Thursday and has begun ankle exercises. Ellis injured his left leg when he was upended by Cardinals' infielder Tyler Greene last Friday. He underwent an emergency fasciotomy on Saturday to relieve the pressure, a procedure which likely saved his leg. He's expected to miss around six weeks depending upon the diagnosis of his knee and ankle.

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Sunday that a doctor told him that Mark Ellis' left leg might have needed amputatation if they had waited four or five more hours to make a cut to relieve pressure. Scary stuff. Ellis underwent a fasciotomy for a serious condition that was discovered earlier Saturday. He will miss at least six weeks of game action, which is small potatoes compared to what Mattingly was informed. Justin Sellers and Elian Herrera will likely split time at second base for now.

Dodgers placed 2B Mark Ellis on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained left leg. Ellis was injured on a takeout slide by Tyler Greene on Friday. X-rays came back negative, but Los Angeles preferred not to go with a short bench for the next few days. Justin Sellers is in line for regular at-bats at second base until Ellis returns.

X-rays to Mark Ellis' left leg came back negative, but his availability for Saturday's game won't be determined until he's re-examined. Ellis was injured on a takeout slide by Tyler Greene on Friday and later removed in a double-switch. "It's not broken," he said. "It hurts a lot. We have to get the swelling out of there. The ankle, shin, the whole lower leg hurts." It sounds like Ellis will avoid the disabled list. If he were to miss time, Justin Sellers would see regular at-bats at second base.

Mark Ellis collected four singles in five at-bats in Tuesday's 7-6 win over the Rockies. It was his first four-hit effort since late last season, when he performed the feat twice between August 24 and September 14. The second baseman is now batting .280 -- his highest mark since two games into the season.

Mark Ellis was scratched from Monday's lineup due to illness. He should be back to normal in the next day or two. Ellis is batting .270 (10-for-37) with six doubles and RBI during Cactus League play and should be useful in NL-only formats this season.

Mark Ellis went 2-for-3 with a double, walk, two RBI and two runs scored in Friday's rout of the White Sox. Ellis is now batting .294 to go along with five doubles this spring. He won't hit enough to warrant mixed-league consideration this season, but should be an asset in NL-only formats.
