Kyle Farnsworth was spotted hunched over in the tunnel to the clubhouse and shaking his forearm after converting a save Monday night against the Cardinals, but the Mets say that he is "fine." Farnsworth acknowledged after the game that he was shaky his forearm, but he merely chalked it up to him being "old." It doesn't sound like a big deal, but it wouldn't be surprising if he gets a night off Tuesday.

Mets manager Terry Collins said Sunday that Kyle Farnsworth has supplanted Jose Valverde as the team's new closer. Farnsworth has pitched well for the Mets in the early going, allowing just one run over his first 7 1/3 relief innings. However, his velocity has been declining for a few years now and he hasn't had an effective full season since 2011. It's a move that's unlikely to work out, but the Mets don't have any great options.

Mets purchased the contract of RHP Kyle Farnsworth from Triple-A Las Vegas. Farnsworth failed to crack the Opening Day bullpen after an unimpressive spring, but he winds up getting called up before the Triple-A season starter. He'll work the middle innings.

Kyle Farnsworth will be called up from Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday. He'll replace the injured Bobby Parnell (elbow) on the roster. Farnsworth wasn't all that impressive during spring training, but the Mets are hopeful that the veteran right-hander will add some stability to a bullpen that already looks like a weak spot. He'll have to be added to the 40-man roster.

Kyle Farnsworth has decided to opt out of his contract with the Mets after being told he won't make the Opening Day roster, according to his agent Barry Meister. Farnsworth was reportedly flat this spring, sitting around 87-89 mph with his fastball. The 37-year-old will try to find other major league work, but this may be the end of the line for Farnsworth.

Kyle Farnsworth isn't likely to make the Mets out of spring training, according to New York Daily News writer Andy Martino. Martino has heard from Mets insiders who cite Farnsworth's velocity, which has sat around 87-89 mph, and a "flat" fastball as reasons the right-hander "is probably not long for the Mets." Farnsworth is in camp as a non-roster invite after signing a minor league contract in February.
